I am considering blending a sulfa antiseptic with tincture of iodine. I have read one source stating that the antiseptic property of povidone-iodine (iodophor) is deactivated by sulfur compounds, but I cannot deduce that this also applies to a simple solution of iodine in ethanol too.

You have described tincture as I2 dissolved in alcohol. Diatomic iodine is not very reactive. It does not seem that it should react with sulfur compounds. The iodine as providone or betadine may react with the sulfur.
