We have had him dewormed but the diarrhea isn't getting any better. I am planning on calling the vet but they aren't open until monday. Is there anything else i can do to make him better. We're keeping him hydrated but i'm still worried.

I would never feed an adult cat dairy as he is probably lactose intolerant. He only eats his high quality cat food and he has had diarrhea for a few weeks. At first we took him to the vet who though he probably had worms from being at the pound. So we dewormed him but he still has the diarrhea.

He is already fixed and is already taking Advantage. He is also an indoor only cat so i doubt that he has fleas.

Hi Rachel...depending on the dietary food your kitty eats, this could contribute to the diarrhea. High quality cat food that is rich can cause loose stools in some cats too especially if it was changed suddenly rather than gradually by mixing the old and new over a course of two weeks (e.g. 3/4 old kibble to 1/4 new ...then 1/2 to 1/2...then 3/4 new kibble to 1/4 old). This causes distress in the bowels with the sudden change. Anyhow, mixing in fibre using canned pumpkin or metamucil will help firm the stools and is harmless for pet dogs and cats (a vet can confirm this fact for you as well). If your cat continues to have loose stools, try experimenting with high quality cat foods as the one you may be using is just too rich. For example Innova EVO is one product where some cats cannot tolerate it as it as it is quite rich so by switching to plain Innova this has resolved most cats upset bowels. This is just some food for thought until you can speak with your vet on Monday.

You say he came from the pound. A change in food abruptly can affect the cat's system. Feeding the cat soft food can also cause loose poo (and stinkier than dry food). Maybe he got into something he shouldn't have. The medicines that he has been given could also be affecting his digestion. You are doing the right thing by keeping him hydrated. Visit the vet on Monday. But until then make sure he is eating, drinking, and acting "normal". If any behavior changes (eating habits, liter box habits and play/attention habits) occur tell the vet on Monday. I hope everything is ok with your cat.

Remember that the diarrhea is just a symptom so the cause cannot always be determined. And the best way to determine cause is a discussion with a veterinarian and an examination of your cat.

Actually fasting is probably a good way to go. Cats can go at least 24 hours without food. That will give his digestive system a rest and should make him feel better. The water is important however. A little meal of cooked chicken and cooked rice would be easy on his tummy too.

My Cat is 10 years old. She never had diarrhea and all I feed her is Tuna once a day and all day there is crunchy food for her in her dish. One day I bought her a can of cat food (beef with gravy) She loved it. The next day she had diarrhea so I didn't give it to her again. It's going on a month now and she's still having diarrhea. What's is causing this?

Try to just give him liquids . maybve a small amount of canned food mixed in once in a while
there might be a 24 7 type vetinary place but they charge arm and leg a call might help
if they can give advice .
It ishard to say what is going on with your cat
my uess is th medication was abit much . anmdcan cause it . more than likely as it is metabolized the diarrhea will susside . if it does not call your vet monday Am, As soon as they open.
But for now just let him rest and give him water to drink with a bit of canned food mixed in a very small amount at frsit then se if he will eat a small amount of dry food .
do not give you cat and OTC meds to stop the diarrhea unless you can talk ot a vet and ask how much .
Good lukc I ma sureyou cat will be just fime in a few days
I hope so

i know my dog had an intestinal infection and it gave him diarrhea and the vet gave him an antibiotic it it was better within a couple of days. as for your cat just keep in eye on him. as long as hes eating ,drinking and acting normal then you should be fine until you see the vet on Monday. if you notice any change in your cats behavior like he becomes listless, stops eating and drinking starts vomiting or is running a ever then call your nearest animal hospital and get him in. good luck and i hope he feels better soon

could be irritable bowel or your vet dewormed for the wrong parasite. I would definitely get your cat back into your vet to remedy the problem

Don;t feed him/her milk, This will give cats diarrhea. Feed him and if you have to get some pedialite and see if you can get him to drink some of this. Lots of water and he should be ok in a day or two.

fleas are a big problem. the only way to get reed of it is bring him to the vet. they will give him 3 pills: you have to give him, 2 times a day.
please try a flea product. such as, advantage, ect. they work very well.
i have 3 cats and i have no problem with, fleas, ticks, ect.
if the cat isn't fixed, get him fixed.
