depends on what is included. Did you see the estimate? Were all the things quoted things you NEED to have done or just recommended? At the clinic I work for we charge 85-115 for just the teeth cleaning, bloodwork is optional at 35-85(depending on which panel is run), teeth extractions are 14 per tooth, if teeth are pulled and antibiotic injection is included for 20 and home antibiotics are sent home for 15-25. As your vet for the quote and what is required, if you still feel it is too high call around for a second opinion

With most of my cats a "dental" runs around $200. That's $65 for the cleaning and $100 for the anesthesia, using the gas isofluorine. I live in a very expensive area.
My 22 yr old cat had a dental two weeks ago. That was $400. She was at the vets all day. They started giving her fluids at eight o'clock and then did the anesthesia around noon. They monitored her heart and blood pressure while she was under the anesthesia. So this was very special treatment because of her advanced age.
I would ask the vet to give you an estimate that lists the charges for each of the items that makes this add up to $400. It seems very high to me for such a young cat.

Yes, even with anesthesia 430 is extreme, look over the estimate they gave you. Because of her age they may have added Pre anesthetic blood work to check her liver and kidney values. Even thought it is a good Idea these extra items can be declined. Call a different vet and ask them how much their dentals are without blood work. Good luck

That seems a little expensive. I would check with other vets in your area to see what they are charging. They probably added in additional bloodwork, perhaps pain medication and who knows what else. My vet only charges about $150 and that is for the anesthesia, dental cleaning and the monitoring while they are under.

Wow... Are you sure you didn't read it wrong? The most for a dental exam for any animal at my vet is $75, MAYBE $100 if the teeth are really far gone.
My vet might just be really inexpensive though because EVERYONE goes to him seeing as he is one of 3 vets in my town.

Wow, I had no idea it was that expensive. How about an electric toothbrush, the kitty toothpaste and you wrap him in a towel and go for it? Oh, be sure to wear body armour!
