The two are really different in that for playing poker you have to focus a lot on the other players at the table. You are playing against the players at poker and just against the house at blackjack. The basic strategy for blackjack can be learned in a matter of maybe an hour and then you are ready for the casino, whereas for poker it takes much longer to learn the game and practice before you can hit the local poker room.

I deal poker at a local casino and have seen how easily a lot of money can be lost by players who don't know what they are doing. But at blackjack you can sit down at a table after reading a book for less than an hour, get lucky, and walk away from the table rich.

Thanks for reading my answer.

Poker requires more skill, theoretically, but not in the cards department. Poker requires the additional element of reading people, which is something you can't figure out by reading the back of a cheats cards. Poker seems a little easier to be "successful" at because you can put more money in on hands that you feel would win, rather than the limited options one has when playing Blackjack. In terms of players skill, however, poker would be the game requiring more player skills.

I prefer to play poker at the casino, because you can sit for a very long time, still get drinks and have a general blast for a longer time given an equal amount of cash. That's not to say I haven't lost 100 bucks in a few minutes with Hold Em, but the average sessions for me last between four and six hours with 100 dollars starting stake money, whereas I've seldom lasted more than an hour with the same money at a blackjack table (Especially when limits are around 5 - 10 dollars per hand). The one exception was at the Beau Rivage, where I played pretty much through the night with a hundy, though I never went up big or down big, just stayed even a lot longer.

In short: poker for both...

Hold'em is the only one of the two that requires skill. Black Jack is very mechanical in nature. You need to know the best basic strategy and how to count cards, but there is still not really that much thinking involved. Hold'em requires skill and strategy.

I prefer to play Texas Hold'em online because I have a much better chance of winning. When I am looking for a casino or poker room, I go to http://www.ranked-online-casinos.com and read their reviews first.

Texas Hold 'em requires more skill... you can basically memorize a list to play Black Jack well. But then you only get two cards total in Black Jack, and you get a total of seven cards in Texas Hold'em. I prefer to play Texas Hold'em because I feel I can do better playing against other players... the game of Black Jack is a house-favored game.

I think Texas Hold'em requires more skill.
Once you have mastered basic strategy in black jack, your actions are automatic.
In Hold'em there are always a variety of factors to consider, thus correct decision making requires more skill.
I like to play both, but spend far more time playing Texas Hold'em.

It has to be Texas hold' em for sure. First of all blackjack has a house advantage so you are already behind the 8-ball. Very few people can count cards and cheat the system, with as many as 6 shoes and re-shuffles every so often it is hard to count cards to make a profit. In poker their is no house advantage, you only have to outsmart the others at your table. I never play blackjack or slots because you are at a disadvantage to start with, i stick with poker.

Poker requires more skill obviously. with blackjack you only need to refer to a basic strategy card if you are not sure what to do.

Poker takes analyzing every player at the table and betting certain amounts to get them to fold.
