All my kids (High School and College) have to be home at 10 pm during the week (Dad has to get up for work in the morning) and midnight on weekends unless there is something special going on.

Dad wakes up when they get in (garage opeing, doors slamming, talking, etc.) so they have to be in before he goes to bed. He pays for their cars, college, and basically everything until they graduate college so coming in at 10 pm on weekdays in the summer is not much to ask. They do not complain because they know they have it good!

Well when I was a teenager, my curfew was midnight or my dad told me I would turn into a pumpkin. I got pregnant at 17 and miscarried. Knowing then what I know now, my kids are in by 9pm because all the weird stuff happens at night. I also make phone calls to check in just so that I could ruin their night! They are also living under my roof no matter what age they are, I say to be in at a certain time, they better be or they will suffer the consequences in not going out anymore if they can't follow the rules!~Mom's law

College? Wow they should not have to be home at 10pm. My fiance works until 10 and often doesn't get home until 10:30 so if we want to go see a movie or have dinner we have to go out at 11:00pm not getting home until 2am or 3am. Usually a Friday night. We are 20 and live with his parents right now and they don't say anything about it since we are not children anymore.

When I was growing up I was never allowed out of my house it was a very rare occasion that I ever got to go anywhere. I think the latest I was ever out would be like 9-10pm for a school dance or football game. But that was when I was 13-17. I left home for college at 17.

Your college age kids should really be given more freedom than that. What does their dad getting up early have to do with anything? If he is driving them around they should be taking the bus or driving anyway.

The high school ones - 10 during the week and midnight on the weekend sounds perfect. But for college it should be none.

I may not have kids but my parents gave me a curfew when I was younger. My dad said that I just had to be home by 11 even on school nights, but for my mom it was like 9. If i was going somewhere and they knew it was midnight. Once I turned 18, there was no more curfew because i was a legal adult. The same goes for my sisters they dont have one and they are younger than me, I'm 21 now. My parents just trust us enough to make our own decisions and if they have school or work, they come home early, like 11 or earlier.

Dang...you give your college aged kids curfews?!?!?!? That's actually kind of funny, in my opinion. You do understand that after the summer is over, they go to college and do whatever they want, right?

Anyway, the curfews with your high school students are fine. 10 pm is a pretty good time to be home on school nights, and nothing good ever happens past midnight anyway.

I'm only 19 and when I was in high school, my parents never gave me a curfew, but I was hardly out past midnight ever. I agree with them that nothing safe happens after midnight.

However, you're curfew with your college students seems a little, well, dumb. I mean, I guess if they are okay with it, then its no big deal. But I think its kinda funny that you put curfews on adults who after 3 months, go to college and can do whatever they want.

Mine had a curfew of midnight on weekends after they turned fifteen or so, but earlier, about 10:00, on week nights. They moved away for college, which I think was better for them and us. By that age I think it is good for them to have a bit more freedom and independence than a curfew, but if they are still at home it is harder to do that. When they came home from college for weekends or holidays I didn't expect them to live by a curfew as long as we knew when they'd be home.

My daughter in high school must be home by ten in the evening on weekdays also. I'm more flexible on Friday and Saturday nights, particularly if a school event goes beyond midnight. She came home from an all-night prom (lock-down) by six in the morning.

I don't have kids, but I'm 18 and my parents have never given me a curfew at all. I've always been allowed to come and go as I please and I think it's made me a better person. Sometimes I'll come home at 9.00pm and sometimes I won't come home for 2 days. The thing is, my parents trust me and know they don't have to worry so it's all OK.

Maybe it's because we have that "trust" that they've never been afraid of letting me out until whenever.

My parents gave me a curfew of 11pm and their car (which i usually drove) a curfew of 10. That way, if I wanted the car, i had to be home by 10, but if i wanted to stay out a little longer, i had to find my own way. It worked out well for us that way
