I think a good idea would be to use yellow, orange, red, brown paints. Have the children dip their hands in the paint, and with fingers spread apart, make handprints on a piece of cream construction paper. Then cut out all the handprints of the children, and using your creative imagination and a little construction paper, design a handprint tree (handprints become the leaves). Then do a Creative Font title with a catchy phrase or autumn poem, welcoming the children to autumn.

Do the handprints and make the fingers feathers and the thumb the head for a Thanksgiving Turkey. Also take pictures of the kids.

Have you pointed out to your employer that 6 wk-8 mo old infants are not exactly "blooming artists" at this stage in their life. Is he/she for real? Anyway, for the children that can hold a crayon, give them one and a very large piece of paper, and have them all scribble on it. Or give them each their own sheet of paper and have them scribble individually, write the childs name at the bottom corner, the parents will love it when they pick up their children and see their baby's work of art.

Children love colours, pleasant colours like blue, green, orange, purple etc. They like to see familiar patterns, like balloons, toys they usually play with, dolls and animal-look-a-likes, cars, trucks, spoons, feeding bottles.....so, I guess, the Board should display pic's of these, to give them some joy and sense of security. Some music, soft, nursery rhymes and gentle, mild tunes, near the Board will give useful audio support to visuals. Cheers! (And, of course, leave a lot of space on the Board, for them to scribble, paint, smear whatever they want -- 'free' space!)

Something tactile, maybe different kinds of fabric; primary colors; maybe you could ask the parents for birth photos of the kids to make a display of what they looked like as newborns.
