if it was in your yard it would be easy --dont touch it it is a part of a estate thing -if she has no family it will belong to the state if she didnt have cash or insurance to pay for her burial.

Since the vehicle is on someone else's property, you can't claim it as abandoned. If she died intestate and has no family at all her estate will go to the state. Any attempt by you to claim this vehicle would be theft by fraud, typically a felony.

Whoever told you that at "the city" is an IDIOT. That won't help your case if you get busted for this.

call the local sheriff and the will come out and run the vin for theft and if it clean then they will give you a release u take to sec of state end the will try to contact last reg owner and if no reply in 60 days then the title is issued to u

I just did this very thing for a Thunderbird sitting in my yard.In Washington,it's called a Hulk Hauling Permit. Here, you just call your local Sherriffs Dept. and ask for one then an officer makes an appt. to go to the yard and have a look at the cars condition and verify it's location. Then you receive papers in the mail a week later showing former owners, etc.

you have to run the Vin number on it to find out for sure ,,then there is a paper you fill out,,and there is a waiting period sometimes,,just to be sure there isn't any family left to claim it,,after that they will issue you a title for it,,but you will have to pay the tax on what they say that it is worth,,also you will have to have it removed from the property,,sometimes this is more trouble than it is worth,,i hope this helps,,good luck with it.
