I have heard of many instances of cats and dogs having great relationships. It is nice you can have both a cat and a dog and that they get along well.

When cats & dogs live together, they usually get used to each other. eg my cats rub up against my dog & he doesn't mind.
Dogs like to chase things, so if they meet a new cat & that cat gets a fright & runs, the dog will usually chase because the cat is smaller. This is where the fight myth comes from. If the cat stands its ground & hisses, the dog will usually back off.

There are some dogs and cats that cannot get along, and others can. It just depends on the cat and dog, not really the breed.
We have four dogs and one cat. 3 of them get along with the cat, but one of them does not. She is a hunting dog, and thinks anything smaller than her is fair game.

Some dogs (like terriers) have a prey drive, which means that they will give chase to smaller pets (cats, rabbits, hamsters, birds, etc). Some dogs just don't like cats (they could have been scratched by one when younger, or never raised and trained to cohabit peacefully).
Most dogs can be trained to coexsist with cats easily. It takes time and effort, but they can be the best of friends.
My own personal dogs were raised around cats, and never had any problems with them. Even around foster cats, that were terrified of dogs, my dogs were well behaved. However they always gave chase to chickens, so we still had to watch them around other animals.

no, dogs and cats can get along just fine. I had a 2 yr old lab dog and then I brought a kitten in the house and the kitten thought that my lab was its mom. later on down the road, my cat started acting like my dog instead of a cat, it was so cute.

The cat is being dominant, nothing incorrect with that. You must not have brought a excessive strung canine into your condominium with a cat as the resident pet. They are going to finally style matters out, however you ought to gain knowledge of to come to be the percent chief. This will likely relax both pets. If it does not figure out, do not put both pet out on the road. You must work more difficult to calm them both. The cat is only defending it's possess turf.

Dogs and cats won't fight if they've been together since birth, or at least puppy and kitten hood.
