You need to tell your father the truth. He knows you lied to him but you need to tell him exsatally what happened and that you are really sorry about liying to him. I would also suggest that if you have the money maybe you could offer to get him a new snake or maybe he would like another pet like a cat or dog. Past that all that you can do is tell him you are sorry. Also exsplain why you didnt want to tell him about it at first. If you need any more advice you can email me and I will get back to you. Let me know.

This is no reason for your dad to refuse to talk to you. There are a lot of animal lovers out here. But i would think his love for you is stronger. We all make mistakes, okay? This was a mistakenly bad judgment. And you probably won't let this happen again. I don't see where an apology is needed being that you did nothing wrong to him. But to put peace back between you two, just talk to him and let him know it was bad judgment on your part and ask him to take care of it when you're gone for a period of time. Is this his problem or is it the fact that you have your own place and not at home anymore? Talk to your father.

hey
you know honestly you cant help if your snake gets loose. Now the part about you not telling your dad, was probably not the best idea. I know its hard, and i guess i should take my own advice, but to be honest, its nevre good to tell your parents about bad news. It never is! So, instead of saying what you should have done, i will say, that it would have been better if you hoad always been honest. I mean truly its not your fault if the snake got loose. You could not havfe done anything. And this is a small problem. I mean its sad, and all, but there are soo many bigger problems in life that yo uwill face. And to face them with honestly, is truly the secret of how to face it. Always be honest about your problems, or your bad news. Then you wont be as busted or in the sucky situation of your parents or guardian not talking to you. Now i dont think you should appoligies. But do let him know how sorry you are, and how bad you feel. Your father loves you, and to be honest he will come around sooner or later. Well i wish you good luck, and just remeber, being honest about a problem, being honest is the best solution to any problem.
good luck

Is your mom still in the picture? You might talk to her and see what she has to say about it.
It's hard to tell what upset your dad more -- the death of the animal, or the fact that you lied about it (although with the best of intentions). If he absolutely won't talk to you, try writing him a letter. And if he still won't respond, there isn't much you can do.
Unless you point out to him that he's an animal lover and you're an animal too, and you're very, very sorry about what happened, but you still want your dad to love you.
Good luck with it. Some people can be incredibly stubborn!

Say this:
"Dad, I know you're disappointed about the snake, and I'm disappointed in myself. I'm sorry I didn't take better care of it, and I'm sorry I lied to you about it. I've learned that I shouldn't take on a responsibility like that until I've grown up a little bit more and can be sure I'm up to it. I feel really bad that we don't talk anymore, and if it's because of the snake, please tell me what I can do to make things right between us."
Once you've told him those things - honestly - you've done your part. If he continues to hold this incident against you, he's going too far, and the problem lies within him and not you.

If someone won't listen to you speak, you can always write a letter. People get angry but they do calm down after a while, give him some time. It sounds like you are owning up to your responsiblity of apologizing, which is good.
* If he's going to rip up the letter, just write a letter and SAVE it until he does calm down and then hand it over. You've have done what you can and tried to repair things. Everyone makes mistakes and lies. If he won't forgive you, there's nothing more you can do but just go on with your life, you did your part.

I applaud you for wanting to apologize and make amends with your father. If your father is ill, he may not be reacting normally to issues. You should try, either by going to see him or in a letter, to let him know how much you value his part in your life and how sorry you are that you made a mistake. Ask him to forgive you so that the two of you can spend time together. That's your part; the rest is up to him.

Well, do give him some time.
No matter how angry he can be, you are still his child. He would not keep that anger for long.
Just that maybe he needs time to get over.
All humans have emotional feelings right?
Wait till the moment when he starts to act in a more relaxing way with you, then you might consider talking to him and explain to him gradually as time goes by.

Try writing your dad a letter explaining why you lied and expressing your sincere regret for the death of the snake and the fact that you lied to him. He may not read it right away, but he will when his anger cools and I am willing to bet that he will forgive you because I am sure that he loves you much more than he ever loved the snake.
