Yea, maybe its not exactly for you.
Now I have a friend that wears skirts/dresses. No makeup, doesn't cut her hair, doesn't wear pants. I know she watches tv,movies and listens to music.
Now that could be a different type of penecostal church. I know there are several diff ones.
I myself am Catholic and have been my whole life.
There are few things I disagree with, and it makes me wonder sometimes. I do feel at home there tho.
You might want to check into some other religons, or some like your's, like go to some different services.
Its all in the Bible what you go by, all the religons can add anything they want to make something there own.
GOd Bless

I am a Pentecostal Preacher myself. These are a lot of rules made so that it will keep you out of trouble. I do not believe in enforcing these rules to a point because we are all at different levels with God. What is OK for one person is not OK with another. What they should be preaching is to live a balanced and modest life style that demonstrates self control. We call Churches like this Legalistic. I once attended a Church similar and I am glad that I came out of it, but they sure did teach me how to pray and worship. My advice for you is to stay where you are at and pray to God for another Church. In the mean time ask to receive the Baptism of the Holy Ghost and then let the Holy Ghost lead you.

I used to go to a church like that (with a former boyfriend who attended there). I finally had to leave because of the rules and regulations. I just could not feel comfortable with the legalism. To me, it's lilke the pharisees. Always following the rules without realizing the intent.
I'd pray about this. If you feel that it can help you grow spiritually by going there, continue going. But if this causes problems for you spiritually to be in this church because you are frustrated by the rules, then I'd find another church.

Those are some of the reasons i quit going to a pentecostal church. I love the services but some of the stuff i think is just being silly. I don't really think that God cares how we cut our hair or what we wear cause he is not looking at the outer person. As for the tv and music as long as it is not a hinderance to you in your relationship with God i don't think that is problem either.

I think you should understand that the things you mentioned are not doctrine. Your church has just taken a stand against these things. You must understand doctrine then pray and read your Bible. Then decide for yourself what you will do. The things mentioned cause huge divisions in Churches. Churches split over these things, but it is not doctrine. Read Acts 10. Maybe you should prayerfully consider another church...

I think you have already decided & want others to validate your decision. People attend curches for different reasons. Prioritize what is most important to you & make your decision based upon the facts & how you rate it. I would be wary of any group who sets rules for me to do & not do that are not in the Bible. Christians are to be in the world but not of the world. We make daily choices & it sounds like you are in the process of looking for another church that follows God's Word more closely so that you will too. May you be blessed by God in your search as well as a blessing to those around you.

Those churches are all the same. My great aunt was Pentecostal. They were strict. No movies, not much TV, you can't read this or that, blah blah blah. It is like somebody is always looking over your shoulder, ready to give you a disapproving look ... such as, "You shouldn't listen to that worldly music ... Jesus died for your sins so you wouldn't listen to it."
That actually happened. I got disapproving comments from Pentecostal people because I was listening to Aretha Franklin. So, I started playing Aretha's gospel music and I still got disapproval ... one Pentecostal preacher called her "Sister Agony" because of her musical style!
So there is no winning with these people and you will drive yourself nuts if you stay there. Make up your mind, be strong and don't let them intimidate or control you. Good luck.

It is your responsibility as a Christian to study the Word for yourself and determine how you should live your life. You cant go by what you are taught or told, but by conviction of the Holy Spirit and the Word of God alone.
Start studying, look up some of these things, and go down the list until you are satisfied with your own beliefs (as a result of study, not as a result of what *you* want/believe).
Then find a church that matches what you know as Truth, if you find that isnt where you are currently attending.

I am a Pentecostal (Assemblies of God). You are attending a church that is very legalistic. That is a lot different from doctrine. I have been saved for many years and what I have learned is this: you should welcome people into your church no matter what they look like since they are all children of God. Once they accept the gift of salvation, they will walk in their faith as the Lord leads them. I personally am very conservative but the fact is that the most important thing is a heart for the Lord and the teachings of Christ. You should look for a church that makes you feel welcome and whose members seek to uplift each other. Seek God in prayer. He will lead you to the right one.

i go to a christian Anglican church and non of these rules are taught there. i think that your church might be a bit strict. I'm not saying that just because you don't like the rules of an institution you should leave. I'm just saying that there are other christian churches out there that believe that the bible does not support rules like that. maybe you should talk to the minister and find out what part of the bible they use to support these rules.
