There is no cure for the common cold. REASON: it is viral. When a virus enters the body it interferes with RNA. It becomes a part of you. ALSO.... once your body builds immunity against a cold you will never get the same cold twice. complicated. I will explain it to you in detail if you want.
The best thing to do is to build up your immunity to fight the cold. Chicken soup is the best because it has been scientifically proven that there is a certain type of protein under the skin of the chicken that helps fight the cold... this is where they take the flu vaccine from. Also if you take vitamin C to help boost your immune system.

Nothing but time will 'cure' the cold, but some things can make that time shorter. Vitamin C is important in fighting infection, so that helps.
I like to take a product called 'Airbourne' that is available in the US, I get my parents to bring it back when they go there for conferences. I find that taking it at the first sign of a cold will shorten the cold, but it only works when taken at the first sign.
Also, if it helps you to sleep better, common cold syrops can help you to get better faster too. Sleep is another factor in good health. These syrops don't actually make you better, they just hide the symptoms for a while.
Good luck.

You want to increase or supplement your immune systems ability to fight the virus. I take garlic pills or eat fresh garlic as garlic has antiviral properties. Ginger does as well.
In addition, I drink lots of orange juice. I do this because I always end up with a swollen and mucousy throat and the acidity of the orange juice helps with this as well as having vitamin C.
