This is a gross question, sorry, but here goes:

I'm on the birth control pill and so I am always scared that my bowel movements will become diarrhea and affect the pill..

So 20 minutes after I took my pill tonight I had a bowel movement:

Do you think this is diarrhea -- I had small pieces and larger pieces come out but nothing came out watery or loose...so is this a normal bowel movement? Or does everything have to resemble that long sausage shape..?

If it didn't come out watery or loose it probably wasn't diarrhea. Was it very uncomfortable like when you've usually had diarrahea before, when it is watery or loose? Maybe when you think you may have done something to affect your pill you should use a back up method or just skip sex altogether that night & next day. Remember, one of those options will only last for that short period of time, a baby will last forever. If you have diarrhea or vomiting or anything of that nature constantly, then you need to see a doctor anyway. I wouldn't worry about it too much. If you're really that concerned about getting pregnant, you should use a back up method all the time, such as a condom. Or try something else, perhaps a patch, I don't suppose diarrhea could affect that. Good luck!

Taking the Pill and having diarrhea DO NOT EVEN GO TOGETHER!

Getting Diarrhea will NOT affect the PILL. The ONLY thing that will do that is taking an ANTIBIOTIC!

When you are taking antibiotics it can effect the Pill. So then you have to use OTHER forms of birth control IN ADDITION to taking the PILL!

Diarrhea and a soft stool are not the same thing. Diarrhea is water and un controllable. a soft stool can happen when there is a change in diet. Any change. a new medication or a different food or even strss. You may be under a new stress that your mind doe's even knew but you body does. Don't worry and don't be to quick to tkae medicine that will bind you up that could just make things more uncomfortable.

I wouldn't worry about it affecting your pill. I should have still be absorbed.

As for your bowel movement, it was NOT ideal (the long S shaped sausage), but it wasn't that abnormal either. I say this based on the assumption that the color was in the medium brown range.

what kind of birth control is this? I've heard of them causing constipation but not diarrhea.

ps- i think that if your old enough to take birthcontrol, you should now know what falls into the category of normal bowel movements for yourself.

I don't think the two are connected, because it takes longer than 20 min for any medicine to affect your bowels.

Pay attention to what you have been eating and your alcohol intake as well...I know when I drink a lot, I have that problem the next morning.
