no. even if it did, a baby bird needs strength in life. wen a chick is trying to hatch there is a reason that the mother dosent help it. breaking the egg open requires strength and the baby gain strenth by opening it. if a egg is broken and the bird does hatch it will be to weak to survive and therefore die. anyways, how will the egg say warm?

If the membrane under the shell is not broken or pierced the embryo will continue to grow. The egg needs to be replaced in the nest so the parent bird can maintain a temperature that will ensure the embryo's growth. If you can find the nest and replace the egg I would think the chances are good it might hatch. However, I think that if the egg fell out the nest might be flimsy and it will only fall out again. Also, I should mention that sometimes birds will eject an egg since it knows that due to the amount of food available it can't raise more than a certain number of young. Let nature take its course....

The biggest concern that you have now is keeping the germs and bacteria from entering the egg. I have tried scotch tape when the egg only has a few day to go, and they still hatched. I have taken another piece of egg shell and glued it to the cracked part, when the egg had a longer time before it was to hatch. I have even heard of gently melting wax on the crack to keep the germs out.
I hatch out chickens, etc, and my eggs aren't all that valuable.
If you have an valuable egg, try melting wax on the crack, then gently adding it back to the nest. Hold the egg to a flashlight at night, (called candling) to make sure that the crack is sealed.
What kind of bird will it be?
Good luck and I hope that your egg hatches.

Leaveing it as is and the egg will no doubt will not hatch, very carefully place some clear sticky tape over the crack, this will keep out the air and stop the crack from spreading, If the skin inside the egg is not damaged you do have a 50/50 chance of it being hatched

Most likely not. Bacteria can invade the egg through the crack.
