It actually goes a step further.
Not only are many of the books of God based upon the testimony (or heresay) of those who "spoke" to God, but then these stories were chosen for inclusion or exclusion into the bible by MAN. So, we have MAN saying "this is the word of God", and then MAN saying, "I believe this guy...all in favor raise your hand! OK, into the bible it goes!!!"
So with man's fingerprints over the entire process, often times with no known author, how are we to take any of it seriously?
The best answer I got when I asked a similar question was that the bible fortells prophecies that come true, and flows too smoothly to be the work of several random authors.
Personally, I disagree. There are several contradictions, gaps, and impossibilities in the bible for it to be divine...but to each their own.

God may very well talk to some people, but I would be weary. First use these guidlines. Does what this person say contradict God's word in the Bible? If it does then either that person is a fraud or a wacko. If it rings true with God's word, hey it is possible. There isn't anything in thte Bible that says it can't happen, in fact one of the gifts of the Holy Spirit is prophecy. That is a good and legit question.
Take care and God bless.

I can say God told me to murder you but does that mean He told me that? Would you say that was inspired by God? You have to have some kind of rule of thumb to see if it is truly from God or just something someone wants you to believe. So go from the bible and if it is according to the Word, accept it and if it is not, don't. Also a prediction by a true prophet will be 100%, just 99% and not anything lower but a full 100%. If not, that person is not a true prophet. That is biblical.

I have put that question out many of times but no one seems to really answer it. If a man walked in to a diner and said he just saw God in a burning bush he would be locked up with a white coat on that let him hug himself all day long. Yet here is a book of the same kind of people and everyone believes every word of it. It is just wrong I tell you. That is why I say that no one would really know if a real prophet was walking here now. No one would believe him.

I accept the Bible as undeniable truth because it has stood the test of time, and the word of God is alive,a living word;because you can read a scripture and then go back months or year later and it is a new word, a deeper word,it opens a deeper realm. At times I've thought of the Bible as puff pastry (you make cream puffs and strudel out of it etc.)Because its layered ever so delicately, but it packs the deepest thinking, the words are life.

your question is two part! Gods inspired word to the scribes of scripture is accepted as fact by every christian is summed up in one word FAITH, the bible is the written word of god, either you believe every word or you believe none of it. why i say two part question is you state every christian accepts that fact! then why do we consider the person mentally inept who states god has spoken to him? you went from specifics of Christians to we. think about it, the bible says we are saved by faith through grace alone

The bible was written by different people for different reasons... but none of them communicated with God. Mentally ill people existed when the bible was written... and anyone from that time who thinks God spoke with them was crazy. The bible is undeniably false.

God only speaks (sends His Word/Message) thru His Anointed One. Many people claim to speak to God, however, they are not the Prophet of God. God only speaks thru the prophecied one.
There have been 7 major Manifestations (Prophets) and now the 7th One is on earth. The Seventh Angel (Prophet) is Maitreya of the Mission Of Maitreya. www.maitreya.org

Two reasons, first the word of God was finalized with Revelation. Second, a prophecy in the Old Testament, Mica I believe, states there would be no new prophets in the end times.

God is a title and by no means belongs to the Creator.
The Creator has a Name. Few know that Name.
Everyone knows who God is.
Why not find out for yourself who the deceiver is?
