THEY BEEN USING THE KITTY LITTER FOR MONTHS THEN THEY BECAME "OUTDOOR" CATS AND NOW ONLY GO IN THE BACKYARD. IT'S ALL DIRT GROUND SO THEY JUST DIG LIKE THEY NORMALLY DO IN A LITTER AND GO AND THEN PUT DIRT OVER IT. IS THIS A BAD HABIT AND SHOULD I KICK IT WHEN IT DOES THAT?

as long as they are not doing the same thing to your carpets do not worry the litter tray is only there for a backup in case they are desperate cats are outdoor creatures and will prefer to go out side

It's not bad because that'svery natural for cats to do when they are in the wild. But you may want to look at finding a litter they like to use incase you can't let them outside. Try some of the alternative ones like the pine or wheat based ones. They might use that instead of normal litter.

I've had kittens before so i know that if they start to go out side let them it is natural so let them be and if they start going inside i suggest putt in dirt in the litter box then they will get use to it and continue going outside and dont kick it or smack it it will just start to go inside and be really scared oh and if it is about to go inside on the floor quickly pick it up und put it outside

Kicking a cat is no way to discipline it! I don't view that as a bad habit. Would you rather it go on your doorstep? Hey, it reduces cleaning the litter doesn't it?

Don't kick 'em!!! I'd stick with cheap litter so when they are in the house it is more like dirt.

Isn't this a good thing? You won't have to clean out the litter box if they don't use it. Yuck.

Of course not. That's what they naturally do, and that is what a litterbox is supposed to mimic. You should be happy you don't have to clean a nasty litterbox anymore, and I hope you don't kick your cats for stupid stuff, that's really mean.
