I mean if a cat and dog were the exact same size and in a fight, do you really think the dog would stand a chance?

I work at my local vet's office and my job involves handling pretty every animal that comes through the doors. I've wrestled 150-lb. pit bulls and straightened out countless Rotweilers. However, the cats are what we worry about the most. They have claws. And teeth. And when they're stressed, it doesn't take any more than a bad glance from you to make them go crazy. Cat's have given us the most trouble by far.

Well, I don't know. I do know that I have 2 kittens out side that go up to my pitbull and to my shepard mix and the one hisses at them. I don't know if he is teezing them or what. He follows them around all the time doing this. But the other one seems to like the dogs. She even lays beside them sometimes. The cats even lay in the dog's boxes (even though they have a little kitty house.) But the dogs like the cats and don't hurt them. I think if they were the same sixe that the dog would probably win because they have much bigger mouths and a stronger bite. But the cat would really give the dog a wooping too. My cats seem to have no fear! I did have a cat once that had a mother that was a bob cat and my cat attacked a small poodle and killed it. I felt soooo bad! But seriously I wouldn't try to fight a cat and a dog! It is mean. So I hope you or anyone else isn't thinking about it.

Pound for Pound, I would have to say a cat. At least my cat. I have an older Manx cat. You know the ones that don't have any tail. Bobby has been known to hop on the back of my neighbors Great Dane and ride him outof the yard when the Dane has had the nerve to tresspass into Bobby's territory. Hissing, clawing and biting all the way!

That is an 8 lb cat tackling a 150 lb dog, and the cat wins every time!

Funny he leaves our dogs alone except for the occasional swat when they get too close to his food bowl.

The CAT of course! I have 2 German Shepards and 7 cats. My Manx cats will eatup a dog in a min. Let a stray cat or dog come in our yard. I had a Manx name Bobo, he was a better watch dog than any dog we have ever owned. He would chase a stray cat up a tree and out on a limb then, he would go out and knock the poor thing off the limb. When you have tall pine trees, you have to feel sorry for the strays.

I'd take a 50 pound Pit Bull over a 50 pound Siamese anyday. But if we're talking bobcats, lynx, mountain lions, and cougars, the dog is 'pooch puree'.

I had neighbor that had a Maine Coon that some people thought was a bobcat it was so large. I have no doubt it could probably take just about any small to medium sized dog apart if it had a mind to do so.
