I believe he is saying his seeing eye dog/service needs a companion. I knew a lady once who had a Yellow lab as her Seeing Eye dog and she also had a smaller dog some form of terrier.

I think really any dog that gets along with other dogs would be a fine companion for your dog. Many pounds will allow owners to bring their dog in and check out a prospective dog they are thinking of getting to see if the dogs are friendly towards each other. You’d probably want a dog that is a bit older maybe at least 4 years probably one that is already house broken and fairly well trained.

Since your dog is a well socialized, friendly and intelligent dog, I think you should find a breed that you like and your dog will be happy too. I think it would be good to select a dog that's close in size to yours, not a tiny dog, also not a breed that's known to be aggressive to other dogs. It might be easier on both of you if you could find an adult rather than a young puppy which might be a lot more work and a lot more of an adjustment.

How about maybe a retriever of some sort, or a setter, newfoundlands have wonderful temperaments, bernese mountain dog, airedale or a collie.

Good luck finding a new companion!

Yellow Labradors are really good dogs-learn fast, are protective and very loyal to their owner. But best to get spayed/fixed for unspayed/fixed dogs can gt serious health problems as they gt older-males-testicular cancer and females-cancer and naturally this should be done as early as safe to do by a Veterinarian-chk around for some Vets do low cost for strays such a sad problem. You can go to the Humane Society or your local pound for there are many Good dogs there waiting for someone to love and all they ask is a home and care in return. Took in a stray yellow Lab mixed with Husky-has 1 blue eye that was very obvious severely abused and now he's a happy dog. He was easy to train and always so happy to see me in the morning. Dobermans are also very loyal but really need to be fixed esp males and need "gentle"training. Also very intelligent dogs. All dogs med to large can fit your requirement but be sure to get a dog that fits the space you have. A dog that's considered a working dog wouldn't be happy and they can get destructive out of boredom if kept in a apartment-Labs,Shepherd,Collies and so on. Just about all dogs, except the toy dogs need some space and if no yard to be taken to the park where they can run jump-be a happy active dog. Good Luck

Black Labradors are very a joy to have around. Their temperment is very gentle.

Border Collies are extremely intelligent and are excellent companions.

Any dog really would be good, because dogs are loyal, faithful and trust worthy. You give the same back to the dog and you've got a true friend for life.

Have a lovely rest of the night.

German shepherds are loyal, noble, intelligent, and great pals. If a German Shepherd was good enough for Rusty and the brave men of Fort Apache, they ought to be good enough for anybody!

Edit: Ah, thank you, spirit_shurt for clearing up the misunderstanding. Duh, Wolfie! *slaps self on the head*

I'd still recommend another Shepherd, preferably a spayed female. Two Sheps usually get along very well together.
