Ok, I was dancing yesterday with this guy-he had been out earlier that week being sick. We did the waltz and the tango(u know close body stuff). Tonight he apparently got violently ill at this dance gathering we went to and left. I have a really bad phobia of vomiting. I was obviously exposed to it but how do I avoid getting it?

#1 way to try and avoid becoming infected: WASH YOUR HANDS A LOT! Try to avoid touching your eyes, mouth, and nose. These are a few of the ways an illness can get into your body.

I go through this a lot because i also have a phobia of vomit. The best thing to do is get plenty of rest and wash your hands so it doesn't spread, if it is on you. Sometimes you may be in extreme close contact with somebody who is ill and not get any symptoms. It just depends on your immune system. I rarely get stomach viruses thank god, i think its because im so scared of vomit that something is preventing me from getting them.(knock on wood). Try not to wear yourself out, because that will make your immune system more susceptible to the virus. Continue with your daily routine, don't hesistate to take some vitamins either.

Avoid putting your hands in your mouth and giving the bacteria a route into your body. Be sure to wash your hands before you eat or as much as you can for the next couple of days.

One time I avoided the stomach flu (my husband got it, and I am REALLY suseptible to it) by drinking a TON of water at the first sign of stomach pain. I completely avoided throwing up...granted my stomach did ache for several hours, but still...I never threw up. Just wait until your stomach feels a little "off", then drink a TON of water for several hours until your stomach ache goes away.

I would just hope to get it quick and get it over with, because I have never heard of a way to avoid those kind of things...they always get you at some time or another.

There is not allot you can do to prevent getting it. It would probably help to drink plenty of liquids and get lots of rest. Of course it's all ways a good idea to see a physician. Good luck.
