Check the Golden Retriever Club of America website. There are lists of breeders by state on it.
breeders.net is also a good website.
You want to look for a breeder that tests parents for hip displasia, heart problems and eye problems. The breeder should be able to provide you with proof that these tests have been performed.

The first thing you should do is go to www.infodog.com and go to a local dog show in your area. There will be QUALIFIED breeders there who care about producing quality dogs, not just producing another litter of mediocre puppies. A good breeder will have performed all the necessary tests for that breed prior to breeding, and be sure to SEE it in writing!
