Ive been unable to wear my contact lenses for a week now because my right eye gets red and uncomfortable.not unbearing at first, but after a while it feels like there is a hair on the bottom right corner (very annoying).ironically, there seems to be a profoundly red ring developing around the iris starting (and mainly) in the bottom right corner.I have a stigmatism but i have been wearing contacts for two years. these are monthy lenses so I switched to a new pair but the problem persisted.it even remains red for a while after I took the lens out. I also changed the solution
still, it did'nt help. I refuse to wear glasses again.

Contact lenses deposit proteins and lipids. Bacteria can grow on the proteins and lipids on your contacts and decrease the amount of oxygen getting to your cornea. This causes corneal swelling (because protein build-up decreases oxygen flow through the lens) and the bacteria can jump in between the corneal cells and start to grow. You probably have an eye infection that is excaerbated by wearing contact lenses. Other problems could be allergy to contact lens solution, improper cleaning of lenses or sometimes people just develop an intolerance to certain brands of contacts. Bottom line: SEE YOUR EYE DOCTOR. I AM ONE. IF YOU HAVE AN INFECTION, IT CAN BE SIGHT THREATENING IF LEFT UNTREATED.

It is very easy for solution to be contaminated and cause similar problems but since you changed solution that can't be the case.
Once something similar happened to me and it turned out the contact lense solution changed their formula and I was allergic to one of the new components. I changed brands and was fine after that. If that was the case it would probably affect both eyes though.
It's also possible that you scratched your cornea. Usually, an eye doctor can put drops in your eye to check for scratches to the cornea. If that's the case you might have to avoid contacts for a little while while it heals. I would check with an eye doctor though

I suggest seeing your eye doctor. It could be a number of things: eye infection or even allergies. The pollen count is crazy high right now. I wear contacts and my eyes are permanently red during this time of year. I usually take them out of a evening and it's better for at least half the next day. Good luck.

Sorry, paragon, but glasses may be inevitable. Sounds like a scratched cornea or infection. Your doc may keep you out of contacts for up to 3 weeks so your eye can heal properly.

Definitely get yourself to the eyedoc ASAP.

It sounds like you have an eye infection or maybe that you need frequent lubricant. Re-wetting drops. BUT it is best that you consult a doctor.
