Hey guys, I could use some house hold soultions if any of you can help. Thanks. My problem is my neck is swollen and my neck is out of alignment. Now I can't really do anything about it until I can get the swelling to go down. Problem is, ice is really working well so I am looking for something to supplement it. Due to other health issues I can't take Ib profin or any other drug that is a blood thinner. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thank you.

Lay on the couch and balance your neck on the arm of the couch. or on a pillow. Rub your neck and put ice where it throbs the most. it should be better with a little TV!

I would say try a good chiropractor. By ths I mean someone who comes recommended....good chirpractors are like good therapists...some are good, some fabulous, some just out for money. As a child, my parents used a product call Iodex when I had swollen glands. The salve was used in conjunction with ice and worked quite well. However, a gifted chiropractor can straighten out your neck in no time at all and will usually recommend supplements.

Hi!
I am sorry you are suffering. Ice is a good idea, and drs. recommend ice to reduce swelling at the time of an injury, and applications of heat to improve circulation and promote healing, usually @ 48 hrs. after the injury. I wear a soft cervical collar when my neck acts up, and wear it while I am sleeping to keep my head more supported on my shoulders. I also have one of those funny shaped flat foamy pillows that have a small curve and a larger curve on it that I bought at Walmart, that is pretty comfortable. Try a flatter pillow, too. Acetaminophen (Tylenol) is not any kind of a blood thinner. Have you ever asked your dr. about a prescription muscle relaxant? Make sure you check with your doc, too.

Why is your neck swollen? I don't know why you aren't getting SOME relief from the ice. Do you have swollen glands? Is it a muscle twisted?
