It has been 3 times that I smacked a player of the opposing team with the volleyball while I served. My coach says I'm going to fail the semester if I don't stop hitting people. He thinks I'm doing it purposly. But I am not. For some reason the ball goes to fast and bounces on someone's head. I tried practicing with my sister and the ball bounced on the top of her head. Are there any techniques I should learn to stop myself from doing this? I want to pass P.E.!

serve underhand or open your hand and bring it all of the way back to behind your ear

First of all, if you are feeling the slightest bit of anger towards these people, control it as soon as possible. You can play volleyball better by playing fairly with the other teammates. You can also play better volleyball by practicing your game more and start building both your upper and lower body strength. However, you should tell the people on the opposing team to watch out when the ball is coming towards them.

P.E. teachers usually don't know what they are talking about when it comes to volleyball unless they coach volleyball.

I am a coach & last year, my players told me that their teacher tried to tell them that they were setting wrong!!! That's not possible because I'm a setter & teach it correctly! Just about everything that he taught them was wrong!

On the varsity team, you would earn a 6 pack of your favorite drink for hitting someone in the head like that!

I would suggest working on your aim. Try to aim for areas between people. Also, try controlling how hard you hit the ball. You do not have to hit it as hard as you can.

Good luck!!! : )

there is no way this should be your fault! a volleyball court has more than enough room that a player on the opposite side should at least be able to dodge a ball coming at them. anything beyond that is their own fault. of course i'm assuming that these people are actually facing you when you are serving ;o)

gym teachers are losers because they set up gym volleyball rules, but with that said. instead of trying to get better in gym, find girls/guys that are on your high schools volleyball team and practice with them. when you play volleyball in gym, focus more on form than the actual striking on the ball.

speak to your mom, because it is not your fault ifthe other team can't pass the ball. your job is to hit it at no cause, if anything you could get in trouble for hitting your own team mate but not the other team. why should you change your hitting because other people can't pass it.
