A dermatologist IS a doctor that specialized AFTER they completed the basic courses.

Proper etiquette is to address them as doctor. BUT there are no laws requiring you to do so and many prefer you address them in a different way. It's up to the individual.

Incidently, anyone with a doctoral degree is properly addressed as doctor. This creates an unusual situation when someone gets a doctorate in nursing... making them a "doctor nurse".

Yes. A doctorate gives you all the rights to be called "doctor".

Dermatologist or not, suffering through 4 years of medical school earns you the title of doctor. Well, either "doctor" or "pimple-popper, M.D."

Personally, if they made it ALL those years in school and received their doctorite, I think they definately earned the right to be called Doctor.
