Hitting a drill sergeant will only send you to military prison (after he's through kicking the crap out of you). When I was in Basic the only way out was to attempt to commit suicide, we had a guy that pretended to take a bottle of Advil (but really only took a few). They put him on suicide watch for a week, did a mental evaluation and he was gone a week after that. It was not a dishonorable discharge it was a Chapter 7? 11? something, failure to adapt to military life. Good luck.

Why did you join the military in the first place? Are you through basic yet? Why do you want out? You might want to think twice about not caring if it's dishonorable or not - a dishonorable discharge can prevent you from being hired, and will dog you the rest of your life. I would encourage you to think twice about leaving. I guess you could play the homosexual card, or shoot yourself bad enough that you'd be disabled, but that's up to you whether you could live with being that kind of coward. I have no respect for anyone who joins up and then lies to get out. You did an admirable thing by joining (and no, I DON'T support the war - only the troops), I'd hate to see you labled coward for the rest of your life for lying and dodging such loyal service to your country. And it IS to your country - not necessarily your president.

the fastest way out is to finish your contract and not re up at your EAOS.
anything else, and you are setting yourself up for herartache and pain. from being stuck in limbo for months before getting out, doing scut work and not having any freedom whatsoever, to doing prison time, to forfeiting ALL of your bennies such as the GI Bill and VA services and not ever being hired by anybody because you have a Bad Conduct Discharge or an Other than Honorable one.

Call the GI Rights Hotline. 800-394-9544. Hope you don't like our President, because these guys are about as left as you can get. I'm all about the military, but some people are just not the military type. Good luck man.

Remember you can do serious time for striking a superior, and if you decide to play mental then when you get out of the service you have to stay mental. If you are caught using this as a way out then change on the outside you can do time also.

You do NOT want a dishonorable discharge. thats bad sh-t. If you hit your sargent you'll get the crap beat out of you and prob get extra duty. When i was in boot camp i would have taken anything to get out, too. but it gets better. there were alot of good times and experiences i wouldn't have missed [thinking back] for anything. I don't think you'd get out for being gay anymore. do you really want to go home and have everyone know you wwern't up to it?

You would probably get a dishonorably discharge. But, you could also do jail time, so is it worth the chance?
