EFC=0 means that your sister's family contribution to her education is $0. This means that she can't 'afford' to pay for college, this is calculated by her FAFSA information. Whatever school she goes to they will pay for everything. the family has to contribute 0, which means nothing. She will receive an award letter that will show her how much money she will get, she will have to accept the award, and most likely they will pay for her classes first then give her the rest of the money. This year for spring I was awarded $2,045 from financial aid and $400 from another grant I was qualified for. They paid $498 for my classes, and I applied for a E-Funds Card through Chase Bank to receive the rest of my money from the school.
