OK, I'm a T-4 Paraplegic so I speak with the voice of experience.
IF the surgery can correct the problems you are currently having with a better than 60/40 chance of success then get the surgery done.
There is NO AMOUNT OF MONEY ON THE FACE OF THE EARTH, that can make up for the potential loss of a LOT more than your ability to walk.
PLEASE, trust me on this. Make sure you have a competent Spinal Surgeon, or Neuro Surgeon doing the work, there is NO POINT
in letting just any Orthopedic Surgeon go in there and muck things up. Get it DONE RIGHT the first time or as others have said you will be left with the very rel possibility of a LIFETIME of moderate to SEVERE pain at a minimum for the rest of your life.
Am there and Living it Day by Day

I think you should get a second opinion before you allow the first to do surgery. Before you think about the amount of money, you should find out how serious your injury is. What if you're never able to walk again? Having money will all go to the doctors anyway for the bills you pile up getting well, hopefully.

First of all, make SURE there is a worker's compensation claim filed on the job. It is their responsibility to pay for you hurting yourself on the job. They should give you the name of a doctor who is a specialist in back surgery. The Dr. can recommend if you need surgery or some other alternatives. You should have an employee handbook that tells you about being on disability and how much can get paid. You might also want to talk to your human resources department.

pardon me, your greed is showing! too bad YOU hurt YOUR back, but shouldn't you be thinking about your health first and suing your employer later... people like you are the reason we all pay such high taxes... you milk the systen for all it's worth and continue to look for more by way of lawsuits... workman's comp/disability will pay for your medical care and your salary until you are back at work... they are trying to help you GET WELL and they seem more concerned about your back than you do.. you are so wrapped up in how much money you can make... thank whichever supreme being you recognize that you are alive, have your surgery, then get on with your life.... there is no guarantee for any of us that we will even exist tomorrow....and there's no free ride for anyone either..

You can have back surgery and still walk.. why wouldn't you be able to walk again.. did your injury paralyze you? You can't talk about money yet you should wait until after the surgery.. wow thinking about money instead of your health

First of all how many doctors did you see that said you need surgery... ??? If only one you should get at least 3 other doctors opinions .. trust me I've had my share of surgeries .... 1 opinion isn't enough... When all other options fail then consider surgery and which surgeon...

..sorry to hear of your back problems...
...If you are wheelchair bound permanently you will maybe able to receive worker's compensation regarding any lost salary.
...it is based on your yearly salary and how this now limits you from working, or limits what you could normally potentially make.
..sorry for the vagueness but I would need more details to be more specific.

typically you can expect 3 x medical expenses= compensation

GET A SECOND OPINION on all surguries, unless it is
life or death situation like appendix.
U could get disability if u are injured that bad.
Try Ice Packs...u could heal yourself fast.
Prayer will heal u even quicker. Folks cant hardly make it
on disability these days.

Go to another doctor and get another opinion. You may not need surgery - perhaps there is an alternative.
