I understand by many of your comments that you are against abortion because you think it is killing inoccent children. Are you willing to take in every crack addicted baby? Are you willing to take in all the children who will starve to death because there parents are unwilling or unable to care for them? Are you willing to take in all of the mentally and physicaly handicapped children who require 24 hour care and hundreds of thousands of dollars in medications, and no it is not covered by insurance.
Abortion is every woman's right. Would you be so quick to judge if you had walked in someone elses shoes?

No one seems to want to answer the question. I did not ask you to preach to me why you think abortion is wrong. I asked would you take on the children?

Of course not. They'll protest and blow up clinics and boycott a woman's choice, but then they'll cut funding on children's programs, education, and welfare systems. They only care about people if they are zygotes or comatose.

I would have to say no, that I would not take in the worlds babies. Where would I put them. The question is a might silly. But I would take in babies of young girls I knew or my daughters (If she were old enough) or my sisters or even my brothers girlfriend's baby regardless of mental or physical handicap. When you adopt a baby the medications and doctors appointments ARE covered by insurance. I would definitely consider foster children. My Aunt took in a crack baby. She had the young lad until he was 13months old. Mommy cleaned up and got him back. There are millions of people who would take in these babies. Did you read that in USA today, in France the birth rate is negative 1.7 More abortions than births. The population is increasing because of foreigners moving into France and having their babies.
You say abortion is every woman's right, what about the babies rights? I have walked in those shoes. I have a child that I chose not to abort. I can't imagine my life with out him. His smile lights up my day.

First of all...this subject requires a little more than just a paragraph or two to explain the evils of abortion. And lets start by calling a spade a spade....pro choice really means pro-death.
I would really need to have a voice conversation with you to explain these things. I just can't type as fast as I think...
Ok now...lets have these women be truly pro-CHOICE.
They can CHOOSE not to take crack, they can CHOOSE to keep their knees together and not get pregnant by abstaining. That's where the real choice comes in...
And of course the handicapped, they are expensive and require care...so because someone is costing you, their life should be terminated? You know, most parents of normal healthy children have great expense and have to care for their children constantly. Maybe your parents experienced this.
A one day old, or even a 1 month old can't live without someone caring for them. So would you advocate the killing of a one month old baby? What's the magic dollar amount? Anyone that costs over $100,000 or anything up to $2000.
So basically, you feel that a child must die so that people may live as they choose? Aren't they still humans? And who decides the definition of handicaped? Is it someone with braindamage? What kind of brain damage? Anyone how might have a limp or has cowlicks all over there head....or can't do addition as fast as someone else....?....I consider someone who can't drive a stick shift as handicapped. You see what I'm getting at?
Once you've made the CHOICE to jump off the building or play Russian roulette...you have to live (or die) with the consequences or your choices. Don't shift the blame to another innocent person and make them pay for your mistakes.
And incidentally regarding the last line of your question...The word abortion doesn't appear anywhere in the constitution...it is not a "right". Just because the Supreme court ruled on Roe v. Wade (which is soon to be overturned based on gross missrepresentation and wide interpretation - in case you haven't been following the news lately) doesn't make it right.
If you recall your history, the Supreme court also ruled that black people where not humans either. It was called the Dred Scott case (1857)....look it up if you really wanna know the truth.
The Supreme Court stated: "No Negroes, not even free Negroes, could ever become citizens of the United States. They were "beings of an inferior order" not included in the phrase "all men" in the Declaration of Independence nor afforded any rights by the United States Constitution."
Rightfully, that decision was overturned...Just as Roe will be...
I'd love to discuss this further if you have the desire to face the truth...
Good luck...

I used to think the way you did...then I had a baby. And then...another one.
What I think is that is is a woman's right to choose to have sex or not.
I've cared for many drug addicted babies. The one thing I can tell you is that they all deserve to be here...just like you. Those children teach us how to be better people. They force us to learn compassion and they force us to educate ourselves better...and then to pass that knowledge on to others.
No one can predict if a pregnant woman can or will take care of her baby. I think that a good many abortions are carried out in fear. That fear stems from lack of education about the options that are in fact, available to them.
And above all, I have a friend who has a Downs child. That child has enriched her parent's lives so much. She is absolutely precious and damn and doctor or person who would terminate such a life because of an "imperfection". We are all imperfect.
Your questions and opinions are very PC. They are just not entirely well thought out.
In fact, I am against any government agency taking away the rights of women (or anyone).
However, I'm also for women keeping their legs closed, pants up and skirts down if they are not ready to pay the price.
If you don't want to get pregnant, don't have sex or get your sorry *ss on birth control.
Babies are never a mistake.

Abortion is murder, unwanted children can be adopted, what would be the difference if you had a child and when it was two years old you decided you didn't want it, would you murder it then? I have worked with downs syndrome children and they are very loving. How would you feel if they changed the law to if you didn't want your child they would kill you and the child? People would have a change of heart then wouldn't they? If people don't want children they should take the precautions to keep from having them and anyone using drugs after one child should be fixed so they can't have more children. It is not the child's fault if it is unwanted, it is the adults responsibility to take actions before conceiving a child. It is not the childs fault that the woman got pregnant.

Abortion is everyone woman's choice. As long as rape and incest are handled with a slap on the wrist that it still is today, it should still be her choice. However, it should not be used as alternative to contraceptive or because she does not want it right now or a million other selfish reasons. Everything in life has a consequence. If you willingly/knowingly have sex, the consequence is you could have a child. A guy's consequence is that he could always be sued for paternity. If you are unwilling to take care of a child or if you know of a child that is being neglected by their parents, the child can go into foster care. Granted, it is not a perfect solution. But it is better than murder.

An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure. What we need to do is concentrate on efforts to prevent babies from being crack-babies for one. I am a Correctional Officer at a prison. I see inmates on a daily basis whose crime is actually a derivative of drug abuse. Many of us know someone that is hooked on illegal drugs. What do we do about it? Not enough. We seem to think that eventually they will overcome their drug problems or get help on their own. Face it. It don't happen. They have such a strong desire for their drugs that there is no limit to what they will do to acquire them. Murder, robbery, prostitution, the list goes on and on. They lose respect for themselves as well as others. Families are torn apart. If you really care about them, get them some help. If they go to prison, they are safer from themselves and innocent people are safer. We all need to work together to rid America from drugs. The other problems with deformities and such can be dealt with also. But killing a child, no matter how old is wrong. I hope this helps.

So I take it that you think that abortion is for crack addicted babies and the mentally and physically handicapped.
I thought that the vast majority of abortions are simply for convenience. There is no thought given about the health of the child, only the desire to preserve the women's rights.
Don't you realize that thousands of adoptions occur every year where the parents have to travel to foreign countries because there are not enough babies for adoption in our country!

I completely disagree with abortion, and I myself was adopted. My Husband and I have both agreed that as soon as we get financially settled, since we are fairly young at the moment, we are going to take care of as many unfortunate children as we can. I don't believe that we will change the world, but if only one child can be taken under our wings and loved, then we made some kind of difference...Hope this answers your question....God bless
Added: I just read through all of the answers, and I believe that Mcbridged's answer was by far the best...What she shared brought me to tears, I only wish more people would look at an innocent babies life that way...

The Bible tells us that God knew us before we were born. (Jeremiah 1:5 "Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I set you apart") That means we are people BEFORE coming out of the womb. Who are we to take away the human life (with a soul) that God has created?!? freedom of Choice? What about the choice of the baby you're killing? Don't they get to decide whether they want the chance to live? If you're not ready for a baby, there is a choice that doesn't involve killing- first- abstinence, if you're past that option then 2nd- adoption. Mother Teresa, before dying, faced Bill Clinton when he passed a bill on abortion and said "Please don't kill the child. I want the child. Please give me the child. I am willing to accept any child who would be aborted, and to give that child to a married couple who will love the child, and be loved by the child. From our children's home in Calcutta alone, we have saved over 3,000 children from abortions. These children have brought such love and joy to their adopting parents, and have grown up so full of love and joy!
Before I get bashed about "how many children have you taken in?"... I am a foster parent, have had 3 in our home since we started this year, and would gladly adopt any that didn't have a parent willing to take good care of them.
I also have run fundraisers to support a home for young mothers that have no place to go called "Esther House"... run by "Time Out Ministries" that gives new/ soon-to-be young mothers that have no place to live a place to stay for a year (sometimes more, sometimes less)- during which they are helped in finding jobs, help with caring for their babies, learning about parenthood, and finally finding a place of their own that they can afford.
Month One:
Mommy
I am only 8 inches long
but I have all my organs.
I love the sound of your voice.
Every time I hear it
I wave my arms and legs.
The sound of your heart beat
is my favorite lullaby.
Month Two
Mommy today I learned how to suck my thumb.
If you could see me
you could definitely tell that I am a baby.
I'm not big enough to survive outside my home though.
It is so nice and warm in here.
Month Three
You know what Mommy
I'm a boy!!
I hope that makes you happy.
I always want you to be happy.
I don't like it when you cry.
You sound so sad.
It makes me sad too
and I cry with you even though
you can't hear me.
Month Four
Mommy my hair is starting to grow.
It is very short and fine
but I will have a lot of it.
I spend a lot of my time exercising.
I can turn my head and curl my fingers and toes
and stretch my arms and legs.
I am becoming quite good at it too.
Month Five
You went to the doctor today.
Mommy, he lied to you.
He said that I'm not a baby.
I am a baby Mommy, your baby.
I think and feel.
Mommy, what's abortion?
Month Six
I can hear that doctor again.
I don't like him.
He seems cold and heartless.
Something is intruding my home.
The doctor called it a needle.
Mommy what is it? It burns!
Please make him stop!
I can't get away from it!
Mommy! HELP me!
Month Seven
Mommy
I am okay.
I am in Jesus's arms.
He is holding me.
He told me about abortion.
Why didn't you want me Mommy?
Every Abortion Is Just . . .
One more heart that was stopped.
Two more eyes that will never see.
Two more hands that will never touch.
Two more legs that will never run.
One more mouth that will never speak.

While there are a few cases where abortion is warranted, most are not. Most abortions are carried out as a means of birth control. There are thousands of worthy parents on waiting lists to adopt new born babies. And putting a price tag on a human life is disgusting! And, women who abuse substance when they know they are pregnant ,in my opinion, are guilty of felony child abuse and should be locked up and supervised until the baby is born. The only time abortion is acceptable are in cases where the mother's life is at stake or when the baby is severly retarded (like most Democrats/liberals).
