ofcourse you can. The real question is.. Are you willing him to lose him if things don't work?

Remember, what makes a great friends might not be a great lover.

As friends, a lot of him flaws might not affect you because you are not romantically involved with him. But if you realized that he got bad breath or don't clean himself as a lover, you might get turned off. But as friends, you might now. this is just an example, but know what i mean?

Good luck

If you are seriously looking at this as a potential life-partner, I would say go for it. But if you want to date this person casually or for fun, I would say just stay their friend. You could lose your friendship in the process of dating. Is it really worth that to you? There's a whole new dynamic created in a dating relationship (as I'm sure you probably know).

Sure you can. But if she is your best friend for years, then it will be hard for you to tell that person your real feeling. If she rejects you then the friendship will break and you may lose a friend. So the decision is yours; see if she really has a feeling for you. If yes, then ask her on a date.

The better question is: Can you be friends with someone who was a long-term lover?

You can... but it really depends on whether you want to date them or they want to date you, or something. I've seen my friend date with long term friends before.

sure go for it. just keep in mind relationships change who you are in a powerful way. you must be willing to lose this friend forever to do this. im not saying that it WILL happen just that it could. sometimes the cookie crumbles in the most unfortunate ways.

would and have.

Yes you can, but it is difficult for friendship to turn to true love on both people's parts.
