So, I've heard that if you get a tattoo on your spine and need to get a cat scan or something, the scan will somehow boil the ink in the tattoo...So, lets say I wanted a tattoo on the back of my neck...would that deprive me of some potential much needed medical help? Can anyone back this up? Or maybe disprove it?

I have a tattoo going across my spine at the base of my neck. Ask the tattoo artist if the paint contains any metallic substances. Some tattoo inks do. The metallic stuff causes probs with x-rays and stuff, but mine has never been a prob. I have had several ct's, mri's and such and never had any complications, and my tattoo still looks neat. a good tattoo artist will know what's in their inks. AVOID glow in the dark tattoos. They can cause problems

if the machine boils the ink it would also boil all the water in your body. you want a tattoo, get one. who cares if they are repulsive,. it's your body.

no...i don't know from experience but i hear that getting a tatoo on a pure bone spot is painful and destructive...and i wouldn't want to risk that on the spine...
