I think it's just natural response for everyone to say "I'm fine" when they are asked how they are doing. I know when I go to the doctor I always say I'm okay or I'm fine and in reality I'm sick.

Because doctors, being human, don't like complainers. If you're going to complain wait until the doctor starts asking specific questions about your health. Only then, if his questions don't cover your reason for complaint, do you complain.

It makes the doctors shut up about that topic faster. Plus, I don't think that a lot of people like to talk about their bodily problems.

It is really a rhetorical question when ANYONE asks , "how are you". No one is truelly ever expecting you to give them a dissertation on their day. It's really become just a polite way to great someone.

Because when someone asks how are you doing, they really do not mean that literally. It is a greeting. Nothing more.
