Depends on what you want to use it for. For 4 grand you ought to get something real nice though with air. Stay away from the American junk and the British stuff is worse. Nissan is a lot less than Honda and some would say just as good although I'm not one of them. Try to find someone who is just going to trade their car in and get it from them.

Any used Honda accord or civic. Great resale, tried and true motors, good style and function. Front wheel drive for all climates. Great gas mileage. Always in the top 10 car lists for the last 15 years. Parts are cheap and available. 10 pts please.

Go for the japaneese brands that are not overly popularized.

Mazda protege, toyota corolla

Honda Civic is a good choise but it is too popular, so you end up paying more
