My friend has said he has feelings for me but he is still not over his ex. They have been apart for about six months and they have a child together. How can I develop our relationship into a friendship without it backfiring on me? Please help. I have a had a crush on him for seven years. I think I am in love with him.

It isn't your job to help him get over another woman. If you over step your bounds you might push him away from you forever.
Give him time and space. It really isn't good to try manilupate a situation. In the end you will not be well thought of.
Many of us love people that we can never be with.
Sometimes crushes are so romantic that we don't see the person for what or who they really are.
Be patient.

just continue to be there for him lend him your shoulder to cry on let him talk his feeling out to you without judgeing the person he is talking about don't push your self on him he need some greiving time for his break up and remmeber she will always be in his life cause of the the child they have together good luck stay strong

Date some other guys and see how he reacts to that. You can't "make" someone fall for you, but you can help him to appreciate what's in front of him, by making it just a little less accessible.

take it slow what ever you do don't try to rush him let him get over his ex, be supportive about it but go slow don't try to rush him or that can back fire on you if you are met to be together it will happen just be patient hang in there.
