Okay, I have a close friend who's been my friend for years. I know she cuts her wrists, and I have told her before that she shouldn't do it. She's finally agreed that she'll call the anonymous hotline for teenagers who cut their wrists. I thought I saw the number before, but I'm not sure. Is there even such a thing, and if there is, please, please give me the number before it's too late. She says it's just a way to "relieve her stress", but it's so dangerous. I'm scared to lose one of the best friends I've ever had, please help if you can!

Thank you all so much, everyone who gave serious answers. I gave my friend the phone numbers and she's promised to call and at least try to get help. She does want to stop, she said so, it's just a matter of figuring out how. I'll give her all the support I can. And for everyone who felt like making a smartass remark when something this serious and dangerous is happening, up yours you a**holes.

She needs to get herself to a shrink, because cutting behavior, though maybe not a suicidal tendency, is definitely a cry for help and attention. As far as I know, I've never heard of such a hotline you speak of. The National Suicide Hotline is a 24/7 she can call.

I used to cut. It's so stupid and she'll realize that soon. Try the suicide hotline that someone listed above... Just be a good friend to her too, it always helps to have somone who cares about you!
