I went to Siu-C and its a good liberal arts school. But if you want to get into the business of film making (which I tried), and since you are only a freshman, set your site on UCLA film school (Lucas, Spielberg, etc) or New York Film School (Spike Lee,).
Performing Arts are normally for people who are going to be musicians and dancers. If you want to write, you take classes on writing and a lot of schools offer scriptwriting classes by the way.
A film producer is a money man and oversees production and make sure that the director stays relative in budget or close to it. If you want to be a director, I suggest study the art of cinematography. And look online for things that are being filmed in your area and see if you can get a crew job.
