My son is potty trained, at least for peeing. But, he hasn't had a BM since Monday. He's eaten nothing but fruit today, and still no poop. Dr. recommended a suppository, and amazingly he held on to that too! Talk about anal retentive! Help Please!

My son is also 3 1/2 and he does not like pooping on the potty.. you have just had to be patient, and allow him to use diapers when he knew he needed to poop....Our son was scared about the new feeling. We started offering a quarter or a new ( small) toy as a reward.. boys love those 99 cent cars or a dollar store toy as a reward. This is working wonders for us. Remember don't push him to use the potty to poop... he will when he is ready. Good Luck

my son's the same age with a similar problem. what would happen with him is that he would poop as soon as i put on a diaper for when its time to sleep. so this might work for your son.

at the beginning my son would end up pooping in his jocks but after a bit, he learned to control. he's only pooped in the toilet a handful of times with the majority still being when i place his diaper on but we're getting there. he pooped in the toilet only 2x this week but whenever he does, i praise him to high heavens and give him the feeling that he's a really big boy now.

hopefully, frequency will increase with time. i've even left him out of the diaper for afternoon naps unless he drank a lot right before.

just dont scare him to the toilet, he might get traumatized.

Apple juice will help get "the pipes moving". I would call the dr. again and let him know that your son hasn't has a BM in 5 days - he may be impacted and need an enema.

i know what you are going through my son did the same thing. what we discovered is that he will go in the big toilet but, not the potty chair and we leave him in the bathroom alone with the door open and turn our backs and he thinks that we are giving him privacy so he goes to the bathroom. i noticed that with my cousins daughter she wants privacy. so they may be young but, they enjoy privacy just as we do. so try it and it may work for you too.

this may not be something he can help go to the er and ask them to give him an enema. he may be severly constipated and in need of major help. go to the er tonight and get him checked demand xrays and all kinds of tests if need be they can and should help him

also try a couple of prunes or a couple of bites of baby prunes and raisins

you tried a suppository for him but it didn't work. try an adult suppository. it might do the trick. GOOD LUCK.

don't push the kid. let him do it with a diaper until he wants. he will start to feel uncomfortable and will go by his own to the toilet.give him the time he needs to be prepared.
