I get really hacked off with people pulling down public services.
Its easy for people to blame the police for all the crap that happens, yet, the expectation is that these men and women will go into situations that generally the public run away from and put their lives at risk.
I'm not a police officer, but I do work in the criminal justice system, and the number of people who want justice when a crime is committed far outweighs those that are prepared to stand up and be counted!
Valuable resources and financial waste that occurs when trying to get people to court to stand as witnesses, who give a statement to the police then want to retract, leading to cracked trials beggars belief.
If we want a safe society we need the police..if we want justice we need to stand up and be counted...if we want the criminals to win...we carry on in the way we are, and we can't blame anyone else but ourselves for the consequences!

The police are useless! I got broken into last month & it took them 5 hours to come out i did tell them that i was a female on my own but that didnt seem to mater it then took a whole day for the scenes of crime officers to come round & take finger prints! I felt very let down I wrote a letter of complaint I did get a reply saying sorry but nothing more was done!

Police are restricted by the Crown Prosecution Service (or Criminal Protection Service as we like to call them), and the courts. Generally, the Police are very hard working and do their very best to help people that genuinely need it. Just because you've not seen a copper in your town, doesn't mean they're not around. They're probably dealing with someone that either really needs help, or someone who can't sort their own life out, that doesn't.

and what do you do for a living that is so upstanding and dignified that you feel you have the right to slag the hard working police off?
It is a thankless job.... go and learn about the real world and what really goes on my friend. Dont waste time putting stupid questions on here.
Police do far more than "security"... if you hire a team of bouncers, see how many court cases go down the pan. I think you will find we have an army, navy and air force to deal with national security.

It is difficult for policemen today to do their job and keep our cities free of crime. One of the main reasons is that the liberal courts and bleeding heart liberals believe in letting criminals out of jail instead of executing them. Much of the crime, especially in my city is committed by repeat offenders that shouldnl't even be alive or at lease should be rotting in prison. Also the police can't lay a hand on the scum because the family of the trash would scream police brutality. What good does it do to arrest someone when some lawyer will get him back out.

I feel sorry for the police because they can't seem to do right for doing wrong these days. I personally have nothing but praise for them. They have helped me on a few occasions. Nowadays they get up and go to work and as they kiss their wives or husbands goodbye they never know if they are going to see them again. I for one could not do the job that they do but I am grateful to the men and women that do, they risk there lives every day could you????

I have had reason to ask for help from the police in my town,i had what i thought was an insurmountable problem (it was to me anyway)right from the first policeman i spoke to to the two who came to my home they could not do enough for me they were lovely kind young people within 2 hours 3 at the most my problem was sorted. i was so grateful for the outcome i have written to the divisional commander to thank them,i have nothing but praise for them.
Far to often we hear bad things said about our policemen what about a bit of praise when they help us? credit where it is due please..

You know, my residence DID get broken into and robbed by my EX-SPOUSE, and he LEFT Evidence (in his own handwriting NO LESS!) and YES, the police did treat me as if I was nuts and it took a LOT of my patience to NOT say "ARE you a MORON -- I KNOW this Handwriting, I KNOW what is missing and I can EASILY identify MY property and who did this!"
And this is about a decade and half AFTER Divorce with PERM Restraining Order in the Divorce Decree.

If your police force is as useless as you say, then it is up to citizens to basically "shame" them into performing.
Start at a local level expressing your concerns. Write to local papers, officials. Get everyone involved who feels the same.
Chances are a state or national paper will pick up the story as well.
When people in public service, or safety are called out publicly with accusations they are not doing their job, they usually get in gear..
If they don't, then be concerned...very concerned..

towns generally have lower crime rates so less coppers are need. I'm from Coventry we have plenty, do you want some :)
I totally respect the job they do - but what they do lack is a general respect, they tend to treat all people as criminals until your innocence is proven - but what do you expect when your job is to basically clean up the sh1t side of humanity.
If we didn't have them, you probably wouldn't have a computer to make this complaint.
