The bible is like a book of sadistic fairy tales that was written by different writers, with different beliefs, edited and changed over time. The Catholic Church; had commitee like meetings in the past to decide what to believe and what to kick out. Also, Christians pick and chose what content they want to follow and use sin as an excuse. Does anyone actually read it and see all of the hate and prejudice it contains? How can someone jurisidict the wars and killings that stemmed from it's verses? Logic does not reside inside of it's pages. With all of these problems, why do people constantly use faith as if it is equivalent to fact rather than a blind person's attempt to explain the unknown?

Because church and state practice what's called the three levels
of knowledge...
meaning fist you have a made up truth for the masses
second you have a slightly higher truth for those who teach the masses
lastly you have the whole truth and that is reserved for those in power.
So why is there three levels?
because of a little thing called "mass tyranny". google that phrase...
the thought is if they really knew the truth they would be harder to control.
now you may ask why more people don't seek the higher truths?
well honestly most people don't want to know.
their quite comfortable in their ordered lives and just don't like anything that may change their truths!

and that my friend is a Wolf truism...

1) Ancient Bible manuscripts have proved that there have been EXTREMELY minor changes in the Bible over the past 2000 years, none of which altered it's content.

2) The Catholic Church does NOT represent true Christianity (don't even get me started on that one...)

3) The Bible does not contain hate and prejudice. It contains God's thoughts and feelings. There is NO prejudice against people of different skin color, language, etc. If you're referring to it's stand on homosexuality, then anyone who says anything is wrong is being hateful.

4) The wars and killings done by false Christianity in the past is not condoned by God or true Christianity. This is why Revelation says that "Babylon the Great" (representing false religion worldwide) had found in her the blood of everyone ever killed on the earth. What God does hate is false religions, claiming to represent him, committing heinous acts under a pious guise. God feels the same as you...

5) If you really think logic doesn't reside in the Bible's pages, you haven't studied it with the right people and with an open mind.

6) If you want to talk about faith, you manifest faith every day. Do you believe evolution? It's a THEORY. To believe a theory, you must have faith, because it IS unproved.

Boopie I think that you have deen reasearching where the bible came from. To bad more people don't try to do the same. If they actually knew where it came from and how it came to be most people would not touch it with a ten foot pole.

I read it for a while and could not believe how awful it was. It is a hate filled bunch of lies and nonsense. The new testament is the only thing that makes even the slightest sense.

Judging from the clarity and order of your comments, you are ready to move on.

If you are seeing this clearly on your own you are probably ready for a graduate course in reality and human relations.

I suggest that you get a book called the course in miracles. It somewhat exhaustively explains many of the ideas you are talking about in great detail.

It’s well worth the effort. I have worn out my first copy, and had to get a new one.

Love and blessings

Boopie~The Old Testament is more like history. Telling us His story. The New Testament is the new covenant with God. The Catholic Church did pick and choose, but they were not the first church. Acts 11:26 is the first time we were called Christian. Before the Church there was Temples. The Church in Antioch was called the Church of Antioch not the Roman Catholic Church of Antioch. The Bible doesn't produce hate and prejudice. It teaches love and compassion. It teaches us to forgive and to turn the other cheek. It teaches us to feed the poor and give to people who ask us. It teaches against revenge. It teaches to love your enemies. It teaches us not to fornicate and to be loyal to your wife/husband. It teaches us not to have foolish anger. It teaches us to love our children and our parents. The Old Testament told us about the wars in the past. The New Testament tells us not to be afraid when we hear about wars and rumors of wars.

People constantly use their faith in God because we know that all humans fail will us. God is the only absolute in this world. We know that if we live by this book our lives will be the better for it. Do you think that a gang member who goes out and kills someone at random, reads his Bible before he went out. Do you think that a man reads his Bible before cheating on his wife. The Bible and our love for God, makes us think and act better .
Humans are not perfect, Christians are human. We make mistakes just like you do. You do make mistakes, right? No one is perfect, we just do the best we can. We pray and ask forgiveness and read our Bible to help us. Everything we need to know is in the Bible.

Boopie,
"Why do people act as if the bible is good and claim that it is true?"
Because it's the only book that tells people how they can be saved. How God reacts to things, and what His pattern of behavior is. It's got the Gospels and Epistles in it. They tell us what, along with the rest of the Bible, inspired by God people say, as they were directed to say. It is truth, and the miracle of it is that only those guided by the Spirit of God can understand it. As you are yet another example here.

"The bible is like a book of sadistic fairy tales that was written by different writers, with different beliefs, edited and changed over time."
If you say that it's LIKE a book of fairy tales, then you are drawing a line of comparison. It's not exaclty, by the words you yourself chose, but it is similar somehow.

How is it like a book of fairy tales? Well, both have pages. Bth are written in book form. Both might have words the describe things and maybe even pictures. They both use words to tell stories according to those who wrote them. How many other books have these characteristics? So I can say that, Popular Mechanics is like a book of fairy tales also. It's just that you are way over your head in your ability to remark succinctly and fittingly when referring to the Bible.

The rest of what you had to say was barren of distinction between reality and what you said. It's true that Christians will get somethig wrong at times, but that doesn't mean that all of it or any of it is wrong. If logic does not reside in it's pages, then how come it says that you will die? Isn't it logical to think that you will die. It also says that women menstrate. Is that illogical too?

So I think that it's not the Bible that has a problem with logic. It's you.

It is interesting that people find the Bible offencive when all our laws are based on moral biblical principles Our week comes from the bible...there is nothing in nature or the heavens that corresponds with a 7 day cycle. The Bible does not contradict itself..it explains itself. Anyone really interested knowing more about a good book can find excellent information at www.amazingfacts.org.

Of course the easy way out is just to stay unlearned and take someone else's statements and not find out for yourself if they are actually telling the truth...or not.

You've obviously never read the Bible nor do you have any knowledge of textual criticism. First of all the Catholic church didn't edit or assemble the Bible. Second of all the Bible is spiritually discerned, meaning that if you are not of the spirit and are instead a slave to the flesh and to sin, then the Bible will make no sense to you.

Silly, Boopie. There is nothing evil about the Bible or any other book. It's all in the minds of the people who read it. I'm going to go out on a limb and say that every religion has caused some type of war. Heck, let's just take a look at those crazy Islamist who believe in muhammy (no praise unto his silly name).

Why is it that you have to prove everything? i'm just curious...I mean there are a lot of thing sciences can't prove yet...in fact what we know about universe, life, etc. is son limitated...today we know facts that were unknown one hundred years ago...is the same, in one hundred year from now many thing today are not a fact will be...so you really think just the "facts" you mention are true?? Knowing this faith is really reasonable doubt for me.
