My mum swears by ground black pepper and curry powder. She sprinkles it all around the garden every couple of days and after rain(not that she has alot of that coz she lives in Spain, lucky so-an-so lol) and that keeps them out of the garden and if they do go in they don't foul anywhere because its all covered with her special mix. Good Luck and if that fails a BB gun or high powered water pistol might help lol....... (I'm a dog person lol)

Love Phil. D's comment! If it's the cats that are causing the problem, try scattering moth balls in the garden. Cats hate that smell with a passion! If that doesn't work, go to the vet and ask about a spray that will ensure cats give your place a wide detour.
If it's the neighbour.....

Tough question. The only thing I can think of is actually a way to stop a cat straying. Ask your neighbour to hang a dried fish in their garden. I guarantee you that cat will never leave the garden and therefore won't soil yours. The fish won't smell enough for you to be able to smell it.

'Them'??? You mean you neighbor and your cat both soil your garden together?
Not sure what to do about the neighbor but you can buy granuales at any Garden Center that will keep cats and other pesky mammals away...hell they might work on your neighbor too...and they are humane...they just give off an odor that animals think is the pee of a large predator.

Is the cat doing this at night? If you see the cat a good spray with the garden hose has always worked for me.
Cayenne pepper where the cat has "dumped" is supposed to be very effective.
Please don't use moth balls. They are very toxic to animals and to the environment in general.

you could get a citrusy spray to spray on your garden along with peices of citrus fruits... also there is a fertilizer that you can put down to keep out the unwanted animals... Im not sure of the brand or anything but I know it exists! you could also spray around the outer limits of your yard with a citrus spray to keep the cats out of your yard in general. periodically you will have to redo this so it sticks, like after rain, snow, or after a few weeks to a month... good luck!

Go to a pet store or ask a vet. I know they make a repellent spay that is made to keep cats(and dogs) away from areas you wish them to say away from. And if you get advice from one of them you can trust it will be humane. Thank you for wanting a humane way to keep them away.

There are products you can buy to put in your garden that will repell cats...it doesn't harm them (i'm pretty sure the smell leads them to want to stay away), and shouldnt harm your garden.

I think if you put lime down that will keep them out of your garden. You can call your local Home Depot or Loews and I'm sure their garden department could tell you what might work.
