Impose their belief on others and keep on preaching at people? but when anyone else says something about their actions they are quick to cry you are not respecting my beliefs?

I asked this question before and it was reported, why? it's not rude is it? did I hit a nerve?

That's a tough question that's been around awhile, Julia. If anyone ever answers it to EVERYONES' satisfaction they should get not only the Nobel Peace Prize but a ticket to their version of heaven. I think it may stem from the Christian edict that theirs' is the One True God. According to their book, aka The Bible, "thou shalt place no other god before me". -God, according to the Judeo/Christian version. This apparently gives them license to practice what you mentioned. Not that the Christians are the only ones to be intolerant of anyone elses' beliefs, even amongst their many sects. And you don't have to be a student of theology or history to see that most of humanity's self-inflicted misery comes from religious intolerance as practiced by self-described Christians. The body count alone will testify to that. Personally, I hope there is a special place in Hell, Hades (or wherever) for those who presume to speak for God/The Almighty/The Great Spirit, etc., if he/she/it actually exists.
Good luck in finding an answer you can live with.

First of all, don't lump ALL of us christians into one family of cry babies...you can disrespect my beliefs all you want....and I yours....It's called "dialogue" unless you just start namecalling and slandering without even trying to have an intelligent conversation.

Now, as far as "imposing" our beliefs on others, I would ask you this. If you new a close friend of your was was going to murder someone, or if they were going to steal something ...etc. (which hopefully you agree is wrong) then wouldn't you try to stop them? And if you try to stop them, aren't you just "imposing" your beliefs on them?

The Christians who have been given the grace to belong to the true church and understand that there IS right and wrong are not imposing there beliefs (though some on both sides might see it that way). The true Christian, out of love for fellow man, is merely trying to help you gain the same joy and freedom they experince everyday in there lives. They want to help you to gain eternal salvation and avoid that whole eternal damnation part.

Are there Christian people who would stand around and (literally) yell at people they view as sinners like porn actors or abortionists? Sure there are...there are some real nut-job zealots out there...but even THEY are missing the whole point.

A true Christian realizes that you hate the SIN, not the SINNER. A true Christian will try to help their fellow man, just as you might try to help a friend in need before they do something crazy like drive their car through a crowded mall or steal from the store cash register..etc.....I pray that you can see my point.....

Feel free to respond...I don't have all the answers, but I think have a few, and a few that answer some pretty common questions...

Good luck!

I am a Christian and I don't preach at people. I do however state my opinion and beliefs. It is my right as an American and a Christian to speak what I believe to be true, especially when I am asked a direct question pertaining to Christianity and the Bible. Love for all people is the way to True Salvation.
God Bless!!

This really depends on what your beliefs are. If your not one to believe in God, it is the Christians job to tell you the good news of Jesus in your life and how much He does love you. It is entirely up to you whether or not you accept that or reject that. There are many beliefs the Christians do reject in that if it isn't in the Bible, it isn't from God. Christians also do sin, but not on purpose, that's why we have what is called daily repentance. There are others who do come down on people that are preaching something and yet are not setting a good example...That's what you call a pharisee and a sadducee in this decade. I hope this helps!

I don't think Christians go around bible bashing anymore than any other religion. I am not a christian but I think it's unfair to ask such a question. Some people of your own religion are probably just the same. It's not the religion it's the individual and the sooner you realise that the better you will get on with everyone.

Fear not...Some people are over zealous with their faith. i am saddened that some professing Christians have caused you pain. Once again, sometimes when you feel so passionate about something, you tend to forget what it was like before you were saved. its kinda like being in love, the outside world gets a little cloudy!! Think if it this way, sometimes when believe in something so strongly it consumes your thoughts to the point of insanity. It is difficult for a christian who has received saving grace not to share that with people they feel to be lost and without hope. I sometimes fret for the world as I would like to save as many people as I could too, but the truth is that some actions cause more harm than good. This is an unfortunate side effect of an action with only honest intentions.

i wish you the best of luck in your quest!!

You don't hit anerve with me but I would say that Islam and muslims are much more touchy on these sorts of subjects. At least with Christianity you CAN discuss and even
denigrate the nature of the doctrines and its leaders. If you try to do that in Islam you are threatenened as Salman Rushdie found out with death. Personally I am fed up with the hypocricy of muslims over this. I will never become a muslim.

That's a lot more polite! Again, I'm not a Christian, and I know what you mean - SOME Christians fevidly want to convert all others to their cause, as do others of other religions.

Just tell them you are not interested in their faith, and don't wish to discuss your belief system with them, period.

And find something else to bother yourself with, or are you going to assume the role of an Anti-Christian campaigner, in which case, you'll be getting reported again, and again, and again.

I eat meat. I don't ask over and over and over "Why are vegetarians sooooo dumb?", I just get on with my life, and let them live theirs.

Peace!

not sure why you were reported? I have seen many of your questions before and have answered much the same as I do now.. It is not just Christians that are defencive and self righteous about their faith, also many atheists have strong view about why they don't believe.. Many people from many faiths or lack of them are still respect full to others and their beliefs..
your questions are them selves very defencive.. It sounds as if you are very angry and have not had any positive interaction with or from Christians.. (and no I am not a christian.. ) I hope you have better experiences and are able to see people for individuals and not just labels..

How about you disrespecting gays, lesbians,

Or people who have friends of the opposite sex, pole dancers, strippers, nude models all of who hurt and abused nobody

Supporting an cult that murders people for that?

Its not disrestect when that organisation bullys and disrespects others who have hurt nobody... its fair criticisim and comdemnatiuon... have a good look at your own

You dont respect ANY beliefs including your own... you only base decisions on how nice a group is to others who do not hurt others... and are fair and just and equal basing morality on being nice or not nice not rules
