Do I like to watch two prideful, boastful, brutal, and childish people attempt to beat the snot out of one another in a ring for money and the amusement of others? Do I like to see our society picture this display of blood lust and brutality as a definition of martial arts? Not in the least.

I find the UFC and all other so-called sports that are like it a gross misrepresentation of what true martial arts are and what this path in life was, and still is amongst true students, intended for.

Martial arts is not about "kicking butt." If all you want to do is harm another person, then buy a gun. If you enjoy this type of entertainment, well that is certainly your choice and your right. For me, however, I see nothing redeeming nor entertaining about this modern-day gladitorial spectacle.

Do these competitors train hard and work hard to accomplish their goals? Certainly, and that deserves a great deal of respect. Are they powerful and effective fighters within the ring (and most likely outside of it)? Obviously, but that does not make them "martial artists."

The martial arts is a wholistic lifestyle that embraces a great deal more than simply acquiring the physical skill of hurting another human being. To focus only on this aspect and then performing like a trained chimp for an audience screaming for blood cheapens any concept of "martial arts" being attached to it.

It is time for us in the West to recognize what these events really are and not confuse them with martial arts or any of the systems or styles that bring our life harmony, balance and health.

Enjoy the UFC all you want, but don't ever confuse it with the martial arts.

I think the UFC is the most entertaining combat sport in the world. It may not be a true martial art, as some will say, but surely it is the best way to see how different styles fair against each other. I have been watching the UFC since 2001, and can not believe i have been putting up with boxing before. I also think fighters in MMA show much more respect for each other. I must add that I am biased, and have a bit of a blood lust, lol.

I hope in the future, the UK drag them-selves out of the dark ages, and accept people want more action than to see, two over-paid, and over-rated boxers dancing and hugging for over half an hour!

Thank you USA!!

ufc is second to pride because of the purse and level of comp. most of the ufc fighters who have fought in pride have not done well. chuck liddle, frank shamrock, don frye all have had success in ufc but have been beaten in japan, it would be exciting to see cro cop or emelianenko fight in the octagon! don't get me wrong though Silva came from ufc and destroyes every one in japan.ufc puts the crowd in to the action as pride seems to be like a opera the audience is dead! I do like the ufc! and Joe rogan kicks ***!Go where the show is and that's the UFC!
