I am getting ready for college, and I need to know what I should major in.

I know everyone is going to say, don't do it for the money, but do it because that is what you love to do.

I really want to be a graphic designer, but the money is not that great, compared to a lawyer.

But if I become a lawyer I need to go to a University and to Law School,

so what other options do I have?

I am a retired 53 year old grandma and I still don't know what I want to be when I grow up!

Most young people just getting ready to enter the world of work will have several careers throughout their lifetime. One of our daughters has two different degrees and is about to start an apprenticeship machinist program. Another daughter is about to go back to school to do a masters in a new field. Another worked in sales of dental equipment and is now training to be a welder. Another worked as a mortician (yes, mortician) for a few years and is now a horticulturalist.

So you can be both a graphic designer and a lawyer if you want to be. Start out in one or the other. Do the other on a part time basis. Explore all possibilities. No one is tied to a career because that is the first thing they study.

Other options .... the world is your oyster ... you can be anything you want to be. You will probably change your major a couple of times before you finish your first program anyway. Most of us do.

Go and explore and enjoy. And don't be afraid to change course in mid-stream if you need to.

Best of luck.

well you have pretty much anything to choose from to major in. But What I would suggest from my experience is first look at your personal strenghts. For example if you are good at math, and enjoy it(Not me for example) then maybe an applied science or mathmatics is the route for you. I say this becuase when you get into the work force, employeers depend on you knowing what you are suppose to do, so it will make your career life faster as far as production and advancement. Also it will be easier for you to make good grades in college which may also help with landing that job after you graduate (Internships is a must this day in age BTW so please consider it as not an option but a requirement).

go with graphic desinger - if you like doing something, you will get more enjoyment out of it - plus all of the loans that you will be having to pay off from law school will bite into your paycheck as a lawyer!

..there are too many lawyers already in the world...NO offense!
...talk to your school counselor as they can give you a test to find out what you would best excel in....meanwhile you have 2 years to get your preliminary requirements meant so try and figure it out in the next 2 years. peace

How about reading up briefly on disciplines that you may be interested in, eg. arts, humanities, sociology, law, philosophy, music, science, business and finance ....

Then see what you are interested in. Evaluate your talents and see what university course suits you.
