I would say that engineering is challenging. Definately not as intense as becoming a doctor, but plenty of material to cover. Yes there were long nights of study that I wanted to quite, but I'm completely glad that I didn't. I find an engineering occupation to be completely rewarding.
Really though, any college degree should be a challenge. Its intended to push your boundaries of knowledge and the application of that knowledge. You should be commited to study and work hard no matter what field you enter. Just like life, you generally don't reap rewards unless you are willing to put in the effort.
Personally, I wish I had better study habits when I first went to college. In high school I was a lazy student. High school was pretty easy for me. College was much harder, until I learned to study and not cram at the last minute.
Engineering is a great field to bring ideas to life. To solve challenges. Every day I hear engineers complain about jobs being sourced offshore, but many of these same engineers simply weren't really making a difference for their company. I also hear and know first hand a shortage of good, technical oriented engineers. I think some engineers get lost in the theory and don't have common sense for the application.
I like the variation, learning something new, being able to help people out. Just don't think a college degree makes you a 'real' engineer. You'll still have plenty to learn. Keep your eyes and ears open and your mouth shut unless you really have something to contribute. Gain some solid experience and you'll go places for sure. There are easier jobs, but they pay less and are less rewarding. Actually I guess 'easier' is a relative term.

you have to know calculus, physics, computer science and other challenging subjects depending on what branch of engineering you choose. the pay is great!!! it is a difficult field of study.

Depends. If you like science, analytical thinking, are good at math, love to solve problems, and not afraid of hard work, it will be easy sailing.

Hard? Yes
Worth it? I hope so
But you're not going to be building flamethrowers out of non-dairy coffee creamer at business school.
Engineers have fun, because they get to create stuff. Make it yourself to do what you want.

Requires lots of common sense. Afterall, machines and tools are made out of human desire.
