That depends on how you look at it. Every dollar the employer pays in 'benefits' is one less dollar available to pay the employee. By that standard, the employee indirectly pays 100%.

The average tells you nothing because the standard deviation is so great -

At my company, employer pays about 80% of the total costs, used to be 90 - however, starting next year the $$ they put it is frozen, so if rates to up, employees absorb the balance.
