Probably not. When you have an actual miscarriage, if the fetus dosen't completely pass, the doctors do what is called a d&c (we call it dust & clean) which is the same exact procedure as an abortion. So that way they wouldn't be able to tell. BUT... let's say you did have a miscarriage....Why wouldn't your doctor already know about that??? They would have to do the d&c. Or if you had a miscarriage and the fetus didn't pass, then the doctor would be able to detect the pregnancy horomone level and be able to tell what went on from that. I think you should just tell the truth. What can your doctor say or do to you for having an abortion??? Nothing...He will just have to give you the best advice to take care of your body after the procedure. Which may be different from care after a miscarriage. Just tell the truth. There's nothing to be ashamed of. People do worse things than that every day. Trust me. The truth will set you free!!! Good luck

If you had an abortion, you have a higher risk of infection than if you had a miscarriage. For that reason alone, you should tell your doctor. Some women have a miscarriage, and still have to have a D & E after. But, if you are having heavy bleeding, pain, or running a fever, the best way for the doctor to treat you, is to know what happened. You wouldn't go to a doctor and tell him you were running a fever, and neglect to tell him you had been throwing up your guts for four days and expect him to accurately diagnose you, would you?
GET on BIRTH CONTROL! IT will save you from having to go through any of this again.
Remember, even though some of these people have been hateful on here.... To GOD, ALL sin is EQUAL! "Judge not lest ye be judged!" Your sin, my sin, and everyone else's sin is equal to God. Just ask for forgiveness, and don't let yourself go down this path again.

Firstly, let me say, that while I personally dont agree with abortions, that was your decision to make and at the time you obviously felt that it was the best option for you.
Secondly, please do not be ashamed about your decision. A child can sense when the mother is not happy about them - trust me - My cousin was pregnant and not happy about it and she was made to keep the baby and her baby was such a crabby baby and awful toddler.
But all that considered you really should tell your doctor the truth because if there turns out to be any complications resulting from the abortion then they will need to know and she'll think you were even sillier for not saying anything straight away and for lying.
I hope that helps and makes you feel a little better.

I must agree with maddy_girl2000...you're dealing with your health. Your doctor needs to know your history...and she should also know so that they can monitor you, especially if it's only been 2 weeks. The ethical questions surrounding abortion should be irrelevant when it comes to dealing with your doctor--you've got the doctor/patient confidentiality, so it's not like they're going to tell anyone. BUT...I'm pretty sure she would be able to tell. You're still healing if it was that recent, and there may even be physical evidence from the procedure. But you shouldn't worry about it. Your doctor's first priority is taking care of YOU, not passing judgment.

I think she would be able to tell. they are trained in these matters. With an abortion the fetus is pulled or sucked from your body. With a miss carriage the baby is regected from the body.

Why would you lie about something like that to your doctor? Something being expelled from the body is different then something being taken from the body. It's in the best interest of your health to let your doctor know of your situation. Doctors are not here to judge us.

do not be ashamed. there is nothing you have done that your doctor has not seen before. not only that, she might have gone through it herself. you need to tell her the truth about everything in your medical past so she can give you the best care possible.

Tell the truth. THEN--have the doc get you on some reliable birth control, so this never happens again. Ask about "the shot".

I'm pretty sure she'll be able to tell, but I'm sure she's used to people lying to her about that... many feel ashamed but you should just tell her the truth.

Don't be ashamed...for your own health, don't lie...problems can arise...That was absolutely silly. Doctors can't judge you...you won't be the only one they have seen, and it is all confidential...tekll the truth.
