Some users have posted that people come unto Yahoo! claiming they are Christians, but really isn't? What makes you a Christian then? Wouldn't everyone have different answers?

I consider myself to be a Christian but I don't believe in the Bible (like genesis or Kain and Abel crap) but I believe in God and that Jesus died for mankind. Does that still make me a Christian?

There aren't too many "Christians" that totally, 100% agree in their religion. There's always a little wiggle room. Not believing in the Bible is a big stretch, but I suppose if you pray to God and believe he is the Savior then you are a Christian. But, of course, you must believe SOME things written in the Bible, because Jesus's death and everything is in there somewhere.

What makes you a Christian? Well, technicially, if you were Baptised and born into the Christian faith, and if not born into then reverted to by taking classes. But, do you HAVE to be baptised and attend church every week? No, but it doesn't make you a great Christian.

I understand that you believe that jesus died for mankind BUT not believing in the bible that wouldn't make you a christian because the bible is god's teachings and words. Now some of the events in the bible probably didn't happen or happen in a certain sequence in the bible but it is teaching you a lesson. But believe it or not if you read in a certain part of the bible, some of the events it says in there has already happened. But I can understand a little bit why you don't believe in the bible because there are different versions of the bible and has been written by man so man has made some modifications to it. But if your going to believe in god and his son jesus died for our sins then you must believe in his teachings which is in the bible.

I understand where you are coming from because I feel mostly the same way, however, I believe some of the bible but I do not believe it word for word. The bible was written by ordinary people, just like us. It was not written by God himself. People back then, just as today, has biased opinions and agendas. I feel that some of those biases and opinions are incorportated in there. That is why I do not believe it word for word. And it has been translated so many times, the bible today is bound to be far different from the original writings.

Simply beliving in Jesus Christ makes you a Christian. Religion is not important, but faith is. When you quiet your mind through meditation and prayer and listen, the God of your understanding will reveal his presence to you. Peace is the test, as demons are the authors of confusion. Have faith and continue to seek the truth through prayer, as the guiding sprit knows how to explain what you need to know to you. There are three answers to prayer, yes, no and wait. Most people do not have the patience nor the persistence to keep praying long enough to find the truth. I will not tell you what I believe, only the path I have found to gain the answers.

Well that makes no since,i will show you 2 scriptures that shows why you can't be christian and deny the word.
(Matthew 4:2-4) 2 After he had fasted forty days and forty nights, then he felt hungry. 3 Also, the Tempter came and said to him: “If you are a son of God, tell these stones to become loaves of bread.” 4 But in reply he said: “It is written, ‘Man must live, not on bread alone, but on every utterance coming forth through Jehovah’s mouth.’”

(2 Timothy 3:16-17) 16 All Scripture is inspired of God and beneficial for teaching, for reproving, for setting things straight, for disciplining in righteousness, 17 that the man of God may be fully competent, completely equipped for every good work.

There is no one definition. Most Christians would say that you are only a Christian if you are a member of their particular denomination. I tend to think that if you believe in the Christian God, you are by definition a Christian.

As a side story, a particularly annoying woman once insisted that I get saved "so that we could spend eternity together". When I said no, she told me "You don't know what you're missing."

To my shame, I went with the easy comeback: "Yes, I do." I mean...eternity with this woman? Talk about hell...

The Bible is the inspired Word of God! In order to know God, you have to believe His Word, and put your trust and faith in what it says. For within the pages are the words of eternal life.

Genuine Christian conversion produces a changed heart. Cleansed from sin and renewed, that heart begins to beat for God! Jesus called that radical change being 'born again'. Anyone turning from sin to Jesus Christ is a new creation. To be with Jesus in Heaven, you have to know Him now.

For me, in a simple prayer, I asked Jesus to forgive, save and take over my life. I became under new management.

Well, you know there are a lot of flimsy definitions running around as to what qualifies a person to be a christian, it depends on your religion. Because you know that if you are part of one religions then everyone in another is a heathen.

But long story short I believe you are a Christian, my definition of being Christian is believing in the Messiah and worshipping him and only him.

You must accept Christ into your heart as your Savior, at the bare minimum. You must also believe that the Bible is Gods Word, because in 2 Timothy somewhere ( I am ntot excactly good at remembering certain verses because I only recently began getting into my Bible) that ALL the bible is Gods Word. My friend, it is either ALLL true or not true at all. If you do not believe in one part, why believe it at all?
