clean it very well with some rubbing alcohol, and keep cleaning it regularly. if you see any signs or symptoms of infection such as redness, swelling, rash, fever....go to the doctor and they may need to give you some antibiotics.

Do NOT administer alcohol!
Use Hydrogen Peroxide instead and stay indoors so you can leave it uncovered so the oxygen can help you promote healing; cover it with sterile gauze when you go outdoors to protect it from airborne dust and who-knows-what.
If you see redness spreading from the scratch or feel a slight fever, go to a doctor.
Oh, the cat was "feral" (having gone wild) and, yes, they ARE protective of their young!

make sure to clean the cut REALLY good. watch for any sings of infection, red, swollen, warm to touch, if it looks like its getting infected go to the doc asap for treatment, antibiotics
