Hi, Me: This is sad for all of us, not only you.
The reason we have
fictional books, movies, and even musical songs, is that we all want to escape the dreary humdrum of our repetitive assembly-line lives, and long to be swashbuckling swordsmen or something, far away and long ago, or for the sci-fi folks, somewhere in the future.
I don't know the character or the book/story/series you are talking about. Was it required reading for some course in school? Or did you find it on your own? Why are you drawn to this story and its character?
Look for clues about your own Inner Self and the Soul-Being that you are, and then you will learn and grow from this book, instead of crying over it. Let the book be a mirror for you to find your Real Self in. Then put the books down and go conquer your life, based on what YOU want fom it.
That might not happen overnight. It's a lifelong growth process. It ain't over "until the Fat Lady sings" (Yogi Berra) :-) Smile
Good luck.....

Man, you like stories just as much as I do. I get sad and happy over things I read and watch in stories also. Though I've never been attracted to anyone from a story, I've never met someone whom I've been attracted to in real life either.
What you could try doing is read or watch an old or new story you'll like. It should help get your mind off of the other one for a while. I believe that memories, whether from first hand experience or fantasy from a story, are all the same and just as important as any other to the person who holds them.
Go read or watch an up-beat story, you should feel better.

Not to be an a s s h o l e or anything, consider not dating men that will treat you badly, rather respect you and your choices to make. There are always going to be bad days as well as good days. Try concentrating on the good ones and make each day if possible count like them. If you don't, even when next year rolls around, you're going to be in the same predictament.

hmm..seeking affection from a book character. this is highly possible. this person you long for in that book must be a LOT like your {hopeful} future solemate. maybe try to find a person with the same characteristics as the character in that book and you will fall in love all over again :] good luck

It's actually a symptom of depression to read too much, trying to escape. Sounds like you're quite serious about it.
The answer is to not read. Go out and take a walk instead. I know, I know, you'd rather read. Been there. But exercise and sunlight will help.

First, you are not mentally ill. Children love dolls. It's how they learn to love. People by the millions fell in love with Harry Potter, but would they fall in love with Daniel Radcliffe? Probably not. We fall in love with what we perceive to be our ideal partner or people who show empathy towards us in their character. You will probably find there are more people in your situation than you ever dreamed of. Don't worry, you'll be fine. You'll get over it and find someone real you can love one day.

Reading the book instead of enjoying the movie is the ultimate way to see what the writer supposed. Reading uses your creativity, hones your reading skills, and can increase your vocabulary

been there done that. except it was a movie character. it will pass, trust me.
if you can, try to step back and look at the situation and yourself. you can learn from this, if not right now, maybe in a few days when the feeling passes.
*hugs* take good care of yourself. you sound terrific.
