This is a first for me.
I have never seen or heard of Catholic sisters begging in public much less in a shopping center.
Be careful. I have seen some non-Catholic people dressed up and looking like Catholic nuns outside of grocery stores and in airports. Anyone can put on a costume.
With love in Christ.

Catholic nuns collect donations from the public to finance the upkeep of the convent as well as give to the poor. Nuns have devoted their lives to God and receive no monetary wages, therefore they rely on the charity and goodwill of the public for donations.

They may have been Poor Claires. This is an order of Sisters who follow St. Claire. She was a follower of St. Francis of Assisi. These sisters live a life of poverty and "beg" for alms for the poor.
The Mall staff can move them off if they bother shoppers. But, if they were there, the Mall staff may have approved.
If you're not interested, say, "Sorry, Sisters, not today" and move on.

the only thing I could think is that maybe they were trying to collect donations for a specific cause. Most religious orders ask for donations, because they live off of what is donated to them. Some of them also try to help the poor or sick by collecting donatons.

Yes they shouldn't be begging...they ought to try working for a living.
(2Th 3:10) For even when we were with you, this we commanded you, that if any would not work, neither should he eat.
(2Th 3:11) For we hear that there are some which walk among you disorderly, working not at all, but are busybodies.
Offer them some work, like cleaning a car or windshield or something else simple; bet they turn you down. Why are so many "priests" and cardinals fat???? LAZY BUMS..not real Christians

No. They are collecting money to be distributed to others. If they wanted it for themselves it could possibly be classed as begging. Would you call anyone with charity cans beggars? Nice to see someone full of the milk of human kindness....

I'm sure they had a licence for it and permission from the mall owners. In which case it's fine. Same as the Salvation Army.

Well, if all the homeless and hungry have been taken care of then there is no longer a need for them to be there. But if that is not the case then of course they should be there helping care for the poor and homeless.

Panhandlers and beggars. It's not legal for the bums to do it, so toss the habitual (pun intended) beggars out of the mall.
