Shave your dog!

Their are many solutions. 1. If your wife is allergic to the hair get a hairless dog such as a Chinese crested, poodle, or another hairless or low shedding dog. 2. If she allergic to the total dog than you can get a volunteer job at a kennel or animal shelter on the weekends so you can still be with animals. 3. Ask your wife's doctor if their is an allergies medicine that can stop her allergies to the dog.

Some dogs are fine for allergic people, like whippets, Mexican Hairless, Chinese Crested, Boxers, greyhounds, Basenjis, shorthaired Chihuahuas,Yorkshire Terriers, Maltese, Bichon Frise, Havanese, Silky and Skye Terriers, all three sizes of Poodles, the Komondor, and the Puli.
But remember, people are allergic to all different types of dog so some might be allergic to these dogs and others might not.
But these dogs are relatively safe when it comes to allergies.

There are several breed of dogs that are good for allergy sufferers. A big dog you could get a Labradoodle or a Goldendoodle. Small dogs are poodles, Chinese crested, Maltese, I've heard Yorkie's are also good for allergy sufferers?

I have allergies and have owned poodles and have had no problems (the ones I had didn't do well with children, even the one that was raised with my child) I currently have a Chinese Crested and Japanese Chin (problem with the Japanese Chin is he sheds so I use a special brush that removes the undercoat and he gets a weekly bath)

Ooh. That's a tough one. I would say you have two options.

a) just don't have any dogs. She won't resent you for compromising her health, but you may for not letting you have one.

b)get a hairless (if there is such a thing) dog/one with less shedding and a shorter coat, and have her try out different meds to help her with it. Also regular cleaning would be advised. But please, make sure you two have a mutual understanding and that this is something she will not be upset with you about in the end.

It may just be that you will have to decide which one you'd prefer more, a dog or a wife. Good luck.

There is a product called Allerpet........ you bathe the pet in it once a week. It really works. My hubby is allergic to cats and we have always had them and used Allerpet. He never has issues with ours but if he goes somewhere they have cats but do not use Allerpet, he can't breathe, etc.
There are also dogs that they say are hypoallergenic but I have not experienced this as we have no dog allergies here. With Newfoundlands and Great Danes... lol, that would be a problem.
Hope I helped.

If there are no type of dogs that she can live with, you'll never have a dog for the rest of your life. This is marriage =((( "No, this is compromise <3 =)))" Bulshit, it's marriage and you have given up your singular pleasures the day you said yes.
Overall, she is allergic and you love dogs. Health beats leisure. I'm sorry.

You could get on the net and research hypo-allergenic dogs. There are several breeds of dogs that are hypo-allergenic or you could always buy a hairless breed. Try looking on akc.org , ukc.org or just google hypoallergenic breeds. I'm warning you some breeds may be expensive but if really want a dog it's worth it. Good Luck

Try for a dog with long hair- maltese, yorkie, ect. or a dog with little hair- pug, chihuahua, ect...... It would be best not to get a large dog. Also try finding a dog that does not shed much, like a long haired breed (maltese).

I have allergies and I have a dog! She sheds, too! But getting her was one of the best decisions I have ever made.**** After a while I got use to my dogs fur and my allergies (to my dog) happen less frequently.****

Anyway, good luck deciding on a dog!

Your gonna have to compromise on it. If she is allergic to dogs, not much else you can do. Decide what would be the next animal you both like to have as a pet.

Find a way to keep a check on the pet dander. Chances are that may be what's bothering her. If it's the hair, the keep one of those $2 roller pet brushes from Wamart for easy hair removal from clothing and other areas. Also, keep the area well vaccumed. If you do that every day it may help keep down on the problem.
