If you are already buying healthy food and your only problem is that your turn it into an unhealthy meal because of the added cheese, then your problem is easy to fix. I am going to answer the questions under the assumption that your are buying plenty of fresh fruits, frozen veggies (yes, they are better for you than fresh ones) and good, complex carbs in the form of whole grain breads. Yogurt is okay if you get the plain whole yogurt. Low fat products are to high in sugar and are not good for you. The flavored kind have the same problem. Also, the whole kind is not so high in fat that you need to worry. If you would like to add sliced fruit, walnuts or almonds, and raisins, even better. You will be adding flavor AND nutrition, so you can use it as a meal or a snack.

Back to the cheese, if you use the right kind of cheese in moderate amounts, your meal will not be unhealthy.

Rule of thumb is: the harder the cheese, the less oil/saturated fat. Parmesan cheese is best, and if you are adding cheese to veggies, this is the perfect choice. American cheese is the worst, NEVER eat that, and if you prefer cheddar, go with the sharpest cheese you can find. Well aged cheese has less oil than cheddar that has not been aged at all. And cheese that is extra sharp is very strong flavored so you can use less without sacrifice.

TIP: That is why there is always so much oil on pizza. If cheddar is used, it is the cheapest kind which is not aged at all. A good pizza place that uses cheddar on pizza will use cheese aged a minimum of 9 months. Yes, I worked in a local pizza shop once. Best pizza in town, and that was their secret!

The American Heart Association has a online cookbook that is excellent, I make copies and put them in the gym all the time. Go to your search engine and type in "Delicious Decisions Cookbook" and make a list from some of the meals you like there. You have to have recipes to cook with at first so you can get the hang of it, they're good for lunch the next day too.

Only eat fruits and vegetables. And if you just can't stay away from sweets, buy yourself low fat ice cream. And buy yogurt too! Also, DO NOT go to fast food resturaunts! That's all you need to live healthfully.
